Job description

SUMMARY This employee is a member of a para-professional social service support unit who reports to the unit Coordinator. Primary responsibilities include providing supportive services for Casework staff in the agency and a high level of interaction with staff, clients and client children. Daily travel and transportation can be expected.

Some out-of-County travel will be required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Transportation of clients and materials to sites throughout Montgomery and surrounding counties Must have own means of transportation; Supervision of clients during necessary specimen collection(s) ensuring appropriate routing of specimen; Provides supervision for children at appointment sites in community locations; Provides family-oriented social services to children and families, through parent education in areas of family and home management as needed; Conducts evaluation of client families through observation of parents, home and care of children, including individual child needs; Supervises care and safety of child clients when they have need to spend time in office, including scheduled family visits and emergency situations when children are awaiting shelter placement; Provides client observation documentation and case-related documentation as needed in OCY information system; Assists Caseworker with duties related to goals, needs and objectives of caseload families; Transports children to and from school from foster homes when needed; Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Good written and verbal communication skills.

Knowledge of basic computer skills including ability to use tablets, lap tops and cell phone devices. Familiarity with community resources helpful. Knowledge of basic child care, simple first aid and accident prevention.

Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with clients, agency staff and other professionals. Knowledge of basic home management, safety and budgeting. Knowledge of standard driving safe and PA vehicle laws and regulations.

Pennsylvania residency is a requirement for this position. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: An associate's degree in human services, sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related course work, and one year of experience in a human services agency; or Graduation from high school, or its equivalency, and three years of experience in public contact work in a human services agency which includes one year of experience in interviewing and obtaining information; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training. This position is subject to mandates requiring Child Abuse, Criminal History, and FBI Clearances for employment.

Pennsylvania residency is a requirement for this position. PHYSICAL DEMANDS EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Must have automobile in good working condition with Pennsylvania driver's license and adequate insurance coverage. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
