Are you looking to be part of a high-performing team of go-getters who make a difference both on and off the court? Join the Detroit Pistons as we harness the power of basketball to unite our city, elevate our fans, and drive lasting community impact.

As a Public Relations Game Night Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting the Detroit Pistons Communications team during home games throughout the 2026-27 NBA season, including playoffs. From assisting media members to supporting postgame press conferences, you'll play an important role behind the scenes while learning what it takes to execute NBA game-night communications.


This internship runs October 2026 through the conclusion of the 2026-27 NBA season (including playoffs) and is ideal for students or recent graduates looking to launch a career in sports communications, public relations, or media relations.


What You'll Do

  • Assist with game-day media operations before, during, and after Detroit Pistons home games.
  • Prepare and maintain the media workroom and press workspaces.
  • Support in-game public relations initiatives and postgame media responsibilities.
  • Distribute and manage media credentials.
  • Provide media members with real-time statistics, game notes, and other supporting information.
  • Transcribe coach and player interviews following games and media availability.
  • Assist the Communications team with additional game-night responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Available to work all Detroit Pistons home games throughout the entire 2026-27 season, including potential playoff games.
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree (Junior or Senior standing preferred) or a recent graduate within the past six months.
  • Pursuing or interested in a career in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Sports Media, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Organized, dependable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the NBA schedule.
  • Reliable transportation to and from Little Caesars Arena.
  • Able to secure and provide their own housing for the duration of the internship.
