Job description

Amazon is seeking a Manager, Public Policy to assist in developing and coordinating fast-moving policy strategy in support of Amazon's commitment to Strive to Be Earth's Best Employer. You will develop and execute government affairs advocacy objectives and political priorities related to employment and workforce policy at the federal level. Understanding the big picture, connecting the dots, and diving deep in research will be essential to success in this role. The ideal candidate will be organized, strategic, and have experience leading policy campaigns.
Key job responsibilities
- Work collaboratively and transparently with the Public Policy team, the business, and legal department to ensure alignment between core business priorities and public policy goals
- Manage and coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and initiatives in concert with business objectives
- Anticipate challenges/obstacles as the public policy landscape evolves
- Participate in relevant industry associations
- An ability and desire to travel is required
A day in the life
You will research and analyze employment and workforce policy developments at the federal level, identifying how legislative activity connects to Amazon's business priorities. You will coordinate with business and legal partners to ensure alignment on policy positions, manage external advocacy efforts and outreach programs, and anticipate challenges as the public policy landscape evolves. You will also participate in relevant industry associations and ensure effective use of outside consultants.
About the team
This role sits within the Public Policy team and reports to the Senior Manager, Public Policy. The team works collaboratively across public policy, legal, and multiple business partners to ensure alignment between core business priorities and public policy goals. Team members serve in liaison capacities, developing and executing strategy for Amazon.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Public Affairs, Economic Development)
- 8+ years of experience in public policy, government, or trade associations on relevant topics
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with public policy stakeholders and managing multiple policy issues
- Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements
- Ability to drive team objectives by anticipating needs, thinking critically and creatively, and working collaboratively
- Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills; demonstrated ability to interact with senior professionals effectively and comfortably, including policymakers and senior executives
- Experience in driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
- Strong understanding of government relations, external advocacy, and communication tactics

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
