Responsibilities
  • Supporting the Dentons Federal Public Policy team on all clients and projects related to natural resources and water policy issues, tracking developments on legislation and regulations, and advising on related strategy
  • Engaging with federal agencies and congressional staff, attending hearings, conducting research, drafting client materials, and supporting pitches
  • Strengthening the growth and management of client relationships in the political government affairs spheres
  • Assisting with other public policy and government affairs matters, and business development efforts as needed
Position Requirements Personal skills/attributes
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate practical ideas and solutions through concise written work product
  • Organized, efficient, and able to prioritize, delegate, and manage complex and detail-oriented assignments
  • Understanding of the importance of client service and exhibiting confidence and diplomacy
  • Embracing teamwork, bipartisanship, and valuing collaboration
Technical skills
  • 2-5 years of regulatory, public policy or government affairs experience required
  • Background or experience handling natural resources and water policy issues required
  • A bachelorโ€™s degree in political science, economics, or related field preferred; an advanced degree is a plus
  • California ties, including previous experience working for a California congressional office, preferred
