Job description

Schedule:

* Pick your own schedule

* Work during school hours (8:00 am - 3:00 pm, Mon - Fri)

* Part-time (10-20 hrs per wk)

* Option of becoming full time 

* School holidays off

* Summer school optional

Position Summary:

Are you: quirky, energetic, playful, warm, see the glass half full, compassionate, gentle, patient & love little humans? If so, we are looking for your type of person! We also need you to be a Licensed Physical Therapist, or Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant.

If you have a background in ABA, floor time, or psychology, that would be a terrific bonus! Or, if you have a heart/passion for children & youth who have: special needs, nuerodiversities, learning differences, health anomalies, disorders, delays, or trauma. We would love to chat with you!

We support students (3-21 yrs) with IEP’s (individualized educational plans), throughout Pomona, Claremont and West Covina School Districts.

Key Responsibilities

  • If you are a PT, conduct evaluations for IEP’s, to determine students’ abilities & needs (PTA's this does NOT apply) 
  • Develop measurable goals aligned with students’ IEPs
  • Implement developed goals during weekly therapy sessions
  • Continuously modify goals during sessions as needed 
  • Provide direct physical therapy services (in clinic/school sites)
  • Provide monthly consultation to teachers, aides & care givers/families
  • Help promote student mobility, positioning & access to curriculum
  • Fit, adjust & recommend mobility/adaptive equipment
  • Provide training (school staff & caregivers) on equipment
  • Maintain accurate treatment schedules (per student)
  • Coordinate w/ teachers, parents, transportation staff to ensure sessions are occurring consistently & according to IEP's
  • Track & maintain service logs daily, to record when each student was seen (date/duration/type of service)
  • Document progress, prepare various reports & maintain records (per student)
  • Adapt therapy interventions to the school environment & individual student needs
  • Be in compliance with IDEA, district guidelines, HIPAA, and FERPA
  • Participate in IEP team meetings, present evaluation results, student progress, update goals & share progress reports

Qualifications

  • For PTA's: AS degree from a CAPTE accredited PTA program 
  • For PTA's: Current, unrestricted PTA License
  • For PT's: Masters or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
  • For PT's: Current, unrestricted California Physical Therapist License
  • Previous experience with kids (school-based/clinic setting preferred, not must)
  • Experience with children who are neurodiverse, have learning differences, delays, disorders, disabilities, trauma & health anomalies (huge bonus)
  • Strong understanding of IDEA & IEP procedures (preferred, not must)
  • Knowledge of best practices in physical therapy
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Physically fit, able bodied & able to keep up with children 
  • Positive/cheery attitude
  • Hopeful/determined demeanor
  • Growth mindset & ability to adapt to change
  • Able to meet each student where he/she is AT

Our kiddos range in age from 3-21 years, and have various co-occurring disorders, health anomolies, learning differences & trauma. We provide services (1:1 therapy, assessments, reports, consultation, training) in our clinic, as well at school sites.
