What is a Psychiatric Scribe Remote?

A Psychiatric Scribe Remote is a professional who assists psychiatrists and other mental health providers by documenting patient encounters, updating medical records, and managing clinical documentation remotely, often through secure digital platforms. This role allows psychiatrists to focus more on patient care while ensuring that accurate and thorough notes are maintained for each session. Psychiatric scribes must have a good understanding of psychiatric terminology, confidentiality protocols, and electronic health record (EHR) systems. The remote aspect means all work is conducted virtually, providing flexibility for both the scribe and the healthcare provider.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Psychiatric Scribe (Remote), and why are they important?

To thrive as a Psychiatric Scribe (Remote), you need a solid understanding of medical terminology, mental health documentation standards, and a high school diploma or higher (often with some college coursework in health sciences preferred). Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems, medical transcription tools, and secure communication platforms is typically required. Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and effective written communication skills are crucial soft skills for this role. These competencies ensure accurate and timely documentation, supporting psychiatrists in delivering effective patient care while maintaining compliance with privacy regulations.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a remote psychiatric scribe, and how do they support the clinical team?

As a remote psychiatric scribe, your daily responsibilities include listening to or viewing patient encounters in real time and accurately documenting the psychiatrist’s notes, assessments, and treatment plans into the electronic health record (EHR). You will also help organize patient charts, track follow-up tasks, and occasionally assist with administrative documentation. By handling these essential clerical functions, you enable psychiatrists to focus more on patient care, improve chart accuracy, and support efficient team workflows. Collaboration with clinicians, other scribes, and administrative staff is common, typically through secure digital communication platforms.

Let's put a heart of GOLD back in the Golden Years.

About Us

At Access Healthcare Associates as part of Brigade Health, we are redefining geriatric behavioral healthcare by bringing high-quality psychiatric services directly to seniors where they live—in private homes and senior living communities.

We partner with 380+ assisted living, independent living, memory care, and skilled nursing communities nationwide, delivering relationship-based, resident-centered care that prioritizes dignity, access, and outcomes for aging populations.

As a PMHNP at Access Healthcare Associates, You'll Join a Purpose-Driven Team That:

  • Delivers continuum-based care, integrating psychiatric services with primary care and other supportive specialties.
  • Operates within a collaborative culture, where clinical leadership, operational partners, and peer providers support your long-term success.
  • Values stability, partnership, and mentorship, fostering consistency and meaningful professional growth.

Your Responsibilities Include

  • Conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for geriatric patients in home and facility-based settings.
  • Diagnosing and managing mood disorders, anxiety disorders, dementia-related behavioral symptoms, and other psychiatric conditions.
  • Prescribing and managing psychotropic medications with careful consideration of comorbidities and geriatric physiology.
  • Providing crisis intervention, behavioral guidance, and family education when clinically indicated.
  • Collaborating with primary care providers, therapists, and facility care teams to ensure coordinated, whole-person care.
  • Building trusted relationships with patients, caregivers, families, and community partners.
  • Maintaining consistent, accurate clinical documentation and follow-through.

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) plan
  • Flexible scheduling
