This is a 13-week contract position with evening shifts consisting of three 8.5-hour shifts and a 1-hour lunch break.

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Psychiatric Registered Nurse Manager to oversee a 45-bed psychiatric unit. The ideal candidate will possess both psychiatric and medical-surgical nursing experience, and will be skilled in managing patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manage patient care for individuals with severe mental health issues, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and anxiety.
  • Coordinate nursing staff assignments and ensure appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios.
  • Administer IM injections and PO medications; manage psychotropic medications.
  • Oversee the use of de-escalation techniques and restraints.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote staff engagement.
  • Assist in performance improvement initiatives and quality assurance programs.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
  • Minimum of 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience; preference for candidates with medical experience (MS, MS-Tele, PCU, ICU).
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS; CPI certification preferred (training available).
  • Strong communication skills for relationship management are a must.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviors and implement effective de-escalation techniques.
  • Experience with psychotropic medications is essential.
