Job description

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a PMHNP/Psych NP to provide med management for Indian Health Services in Albuquerque, NM. Work shift is 8 hours – usually 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, except all Federal Holidays. Contract length is 5 years can be done in 3 month increments. Compensation is $60-$80/hr but negotiable plus travel, housing, etc. Start date is 10/01/2023.

Position Description

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, diagnose and manage outpatients with Psychiatric illnesses.
  • Provide consultation in the clinic on a daily basis for patients from other service units and related clinics.
  • Perform and assist with evaluation, diagnosis and treatment: If the patient has a mental health diagnosis requiring continued treatment, the provider/contractor must perform a full history and physical and present all treatment options to the patient. A careful explanation of risk and complications related to the treatment must be presented an informed consent must be obtained and documented by the provider if necessary.
  • Perform necessary staff administrative tasks: The provider will provide clear documentation of all patient visits and treatments and provide the bill office in providing accurate diagnostic and procedural codes for each patient's chart.
  • Schedule of deliverables or reporting requirements: All medical records are to be completed in an appropriate amount of time.
  • Contractors shall provide direct outpatient psychiatric care/services to pediatric, geriatric, adolescent and adult patients.
  • Provide comprehensive therapeutic and preventative health services to individual patients, family members and patient groups in an outpatient setting; assess and diagnoses needs and sets up a plan of action to meet identified needs by providing health services to individuals and families.
  • Applies medical professional skills in all phases of healthcare services within their scope of practice. Makes decisions concerning medical needs of patients with physicians and designated consultants; these decisions as well reflect a focus and regard on nursing care needs.
  • Identifies and manages specific illnesses, identifies and manages preventive aspects of these same illnesses.
Requirements:
  • Must be a US citizen or green card holder
  • Must possess and maintain a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration or certification as a Nurse Practitioner from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Evidence of certification for the specialty in which the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will perform services.
  • Full Time employment within the past 12 months; no less than 50% of time of Nurse Practitioner's clinical experience must have been in the specialty.
  • BLS
  • Comfortability working with all ages
  • Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for making sure all charting is updated as required.
  • Comfortability work with multicultural patients and interpreters as necessary for non-English speaking patients.
