About the role.

The Manager, Utilities (PSM/Refrigeration), North America is responsible for leading the ongoing development and continuous improvement of Process Safety Management (PSM) programs across all North American production facilities, with a primary focus on ammonia refrigeration systems, regulatory compliance, and safe operating practices. This role provides technical leadership to utility teams, engineering partners, and operational leaders to drive consistent engineering standards, maintenance excellence, asset reliability, and operational discipline across refrigeration and related utility systems. The position also supports broader utility and sustainability initiatives that improve safety, reliability, energy efficiency, water usage, and carbon reduction performance throughout North America.

What you'll be doing.

  • Provide Process Safety Management (PSM) leadership and technical support across all North American production facilities.
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses in compliance with OSHA, EPA Risk Management Program (RMP), and corporate standards.
  • Manage and support execution of PHA, compliance, mechanical integrity, RAGAGEP, and other regulatory audit requirements.
  • Provide engineering expertise for ammonia refrigeration systems, condensers, evaporators, freezer tunnels, cold storage facilities, and related equipment.
  • Partner with plant teams to identify opportunities that improve safety, reliability, operational performance, and sustainability outcomes.
  • Support capital planning and execution of utility and refrigeration projects, including scope development, budgeting, contractor management, and project delivery.
  • Ensure projects comply with applicable PSM, OSHA, RMP, Management of Change (MOC), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, safety, finance, procurement, and maintenance teams to implement best practices and corporate standards.
  • Mentor and develop utility leaders while providing technical training and guidance across manufacturing sites.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of refrigeration, utility, and HVAC operational issues across the region.

What you'll need to be successful.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a related scientific discipline, or equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in Process Safety Management (PSM), particularly involving ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • Experience supporting refrigeration and boiler system design, construction, maintenance, and operation within manufacturing environments.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities, including root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience managing capital projects, engineering contractors, and technical service providers.
  • Knowledge of energy reduction, water conservation, and sustainability initiatives within industrial environments.
  • Ability to travel 30% to 50% throughout the United States and Canada. Candidate must be eligible to work in both countries.

About the team.

Reporting to the Director, Engineering Reliability & Utilities North America, this role is part of the North America Engineering Reliability and Utilities organization. The successful candidate will work in close partnership with another Utilities Manager to collectively provide technical leadership, process safety oversight, and strategic direction across McCain's North American manufacturing network.

This role provides leadership and support to site Boiler and Refrigeration Leaders through a dotted-line reporting structure, helping drive consistent standards, regulatory compliance, operational excellence, reliability improvements, and capability development across all facilities.

Compensation Package:$97,500.00 - $130,000.00 . USD annually + Bonus eligibility
