Job description

Job Title:  Network Engineer II
Location:  Chico, California
Reports to:  Service Manager
The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and managing the local and wide area networks to ensure maximum uptime for users. Designing system configurations, documenting and managing the installation of a new network, and maintaining and upgrading existing systems as necessary.  This also includes technical assistance to team members and end users with network and systems requests.  The focus is on Network support but a solid Systems foundation is critical to success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
  • Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS and DHCP
  • Configuring firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
  • Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Arranging scheduled upgrades
  • Investigating faults in the network
  • Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases
  • Reporting network status to key stakeholders
  • Support services for
    • Microsoft related technologies: Windows Server, Exchange, SQL, O365, etc.
    • Virtualization technologies: VMware and Hyper-V
    • Remote access solutions: Fortinet VPN, Duo
    • DHCP and DNS
    • Security Suite: FortiNet, Carbon Black, MimeCast
  • Document all work performed as tickets and time entries in our ConnectWise Manage PSA
 
Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required:
  • 5+ years’ experience with Networking and Security
  • Professional IT Certifications, such as: Cisco CCNA, CCNP. Fortinet NSE, Microsoft MCITP, MCSA, or MCSE
  • Interpersonal skills: such as telephony skills, communication skills, active listening and customer-care
