  • Maintain and reconcile deferred tax assets and liabilities, including the associated valuation allowance analysis.
  • Identify and incorporate the income tax provision impact of intercompany transactions, separate company calculations, and consolidated return adjustments.
  • Coordinate with external auditors on tax provision review and sign-off; responding to audit inquiries and information requests.
  • Enhance tax provision models, processes, and internal controls to support accuracy and efficiency.
  • Prepare tax footnotes and disclosures for financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP.

Investment Tax

  • Manage tax matters related to the company's investment portfolio, including equity investments, fixed income, alternatives, and derivatives.
  • Serve as initial point of contact to facilitate information sharing between the tax investment strategy team, financial controllership, and tax operations.
  • Coordinate with Treasury and Investment teams on the tax reporting impact of portfolio transactions, restructurings of existing initiatives, and new investment vehicles.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of our third-party investment software, including building an effective relationship with representatives of the vendor.

Tax Technical Implementation

  • Serve as liaison to tax strategy to ensure proper reflection and application of their analysis, including proposed and enacted tax legislation, regulations, and IRS guidance.
  • Implement tax planning opportunities, including credits, incentives, and method changes.
  • Manage and respond to federal and state tax audits, notices, and information document requests (IDRs).
  • Maintain tax technical library and ensure policies and procedures reflect current law.

Compliance & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Assist with preparation and review of complex federal, state, and local income tax returns, including consolidated filings.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Strategic Finance, Legal, and Treasury to facilitate tax input on business initiatives and financial reporting.
  • Support junior tax staff through review, mentoring, and training on tax concepts and processes.

What You Will Have:

  • 4-7+ years of progressive corporate tax experience in public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) and/or industry.
  • Strong expertise in ASC 740 income tax accounting and financial statement tax reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience with investment tax matters, including alternative investments.
  • Strong tax technical research and implementation skills with the ability to analyze and apply the Internal Revenue Code, regulations, and case law.
