Job description

Kalitta Charters II specializes in scheduled and on-demand narrow-body freighter operations. In 2003, aviator and NHRA World Champion, Doug Kalitta, set out to provide a safe and reliable solution to a complex logistics problem. This problem entailed moving freight across the Americas for our customers... overnight!
The B737 Ride-On Mechanic is responsible for providing enroute aircraft maintenance support while traveling with the aircraft on assigned routes. This role ensures continued airworthiness, rapid troubleshooting, and efficient resolution of discrepancies to minimize aircraft delays and ensure safe, on-time operations.
  • Perform routine and non-routine line maintenance, servicing, and troubleshooting on B737 aircraft during flight operations.
    Provide immediate maintenance support at enroute and outstation locations to minimize aircraft downtime.
  • Conduct preflight, postflight, and transit checks as required by company and regulatory procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and defer discrepancies in accordance with MEL/CDL procedures and company policies.
  • Perform minor repairs, adjustments, and component changes as necessary for continued airworthiness.
  • Document all maintenance performed in accordance with FAA regulations, company manuals, and standard practices.
  • Ensure all required tools, equipment, and materials are properly maintained and available for use while traveling.
  • Coordinate with flight crews, Maintenance Control, and Dispatch to support operational requirements.
  • Adhere to all company safety, regulatory, and quality standards while working in domestic and international locations.
  • Represent the company professionally when working with customers, vendors, and airport personnel.

Requirements
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate required.
  • Minimum of 3 years aircraft line maintenance experience (Part 121 preferred).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with proven ability to resolve B737 aircraft discrepancies.
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations, MEL/CDL procedures, and industry-standard line maintenance practices.
  • Ability to travel frequently, including extended periods away from base, both domestically and internationally.
  • Strong communication and decision-making skills to support flight crews and maintenance control in time-critical situations.
  • Ability to work variable schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and aviation maintenance/recordkeeping systems (e.g., TRAX, Ramco, Corridor, AMOS, or similar).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in airport ramp environments.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and obtain airport security clearance (SIDA badge) and passport for international travel.
  • Must have valid US Passport

Preferred Skills
  • Verifiable experience with Boeing 737 Classic and Boeing 737 NG aircraft.
  • Prior experience as a ride-on mechanic or field service mechanic.
  • Familiarity with international operations and foreign regulatory requirements.
  • Training in Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Human Factors.

Shift Requirements
  • Must be available full-time and work overtime when required
  • Ability to work variable schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Two weeks on two weeks off rotation
