Job description

Security is our highest priority at AWS. As an AWS customer, you benefit from an environment built to meet the requirements of the most security-sensitive organizations. You will help secure that environment for our customers while working on security products for a variety of platforms and technologies, all operating at massive scale.
We are looking for an experienced security engineering leader with an ability to scale security and make the right trade-off decisions that enable us to offer secure, innovative solutions to customers. As a Principal Security Engineer, you help evolve our Threat Intelligence and Network Security Services (such as WAF, BOTS, DDoS Protection) to protect against the ever changing attack landscape - in terms of using AI for Security and Security for AI workloads.
In this role you will make high-judgement security decisions that impact every AWS customer. You will coach and inspire more junior security engineers enabling them to make better decisions. We are looking for a leader that's passionate about the potential of Generative AI, and building a high performing software engineering team. Ideally you have a track record of raising the security bar for high quality technology products and services, in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. You should know how to prioritize, communicate clearly and compellingly, and understand how to drive outcomes and excellence with a strong team.
Key job responsibilities
• Building scalable security services that protect our customer workloads against emerging threats
• Offering recommendations and fine-tuning findings to enhance threat mitigations, ensuring robust security measures are in place.
• Owning the definition of best practices for the software development lifecycle used by junior engineers, including its design, implementation, testing, and operational characteristics.
• Delivering meaningful security metrics to stakeholders and continuously improving the metrics for better insight into the security landscape.
• Communicating with influential customers to both explain the technology and understand requirements.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 12+ years of experience in delivering cyber security solution to external customers.
- Demonstrated experience creating effective security strategies that balance prevention and detection, drive risk reduction and mitigation.
- Hands-on security engineering and software development role. Comfortable with shipping production code.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or other related discipline
- * Experience with gathering/developing Threat Intelligence, and leveraging those into building customer facing services.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
