Job description

Under the general direction of the Vice President Operations, the Controls Engineer is responsible for the integration, programming, and troubleshooting of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and relay system, Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), Servo Systems, Robotics, Industrial Networks for systems to support productivity for process and packaging equipment. The Controls Engineer will be responsible for providing daily support of plant maintenance activities by implementing solutions to solve operational problems on equipment that have been escalated to them from other maintenance support functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Daily Operations and Maintenance Support
    • Conduct system testing and validation procedures.
    • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to the manufacturing operations to determine the fundamental causes of equipment/operational issues to resolve quality and/or productivity issues to meet objectives.
    • Monitor system performance and make necessary adjustments.
  • Provide comprehensive training to Maintenance and Production personnel in various technical areas.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and operation manuals.
  • Analyze data from control systems to improve processes and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers for equipment and software purchase.
  • Adapt schedule as needed to support off shift hours in a 24/7 facility.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing industrial control systems using root-cause problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Self-motivated with ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Demonstrate their ability to effectively balance their time between unplanned support request and planned work activities.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Physical ability to inspect and monitor equipment.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance and kneel, bend, squat, reach, grip, push, pull and perform elevated work.
  • Ability to work in varied environmental conditions (hot, cold, wet).
  • Allergens: We prepare products with milk ingredients. Team members must be able to work with this ingredient and participate in sensory.

Pay
  • Starting at $95,000/yr
