Lead the testing and commissioning of protection & control systems that bring critical power infrastructure online while working alongside experienced commissioning professionals on utility, industrial, and infrastructure projects across Canada.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Field P&C Commissioning Specialist to join our growing British Columbia team.

In this role, you will lead the testing and commissioning of protection & control systems, relays, SCADA, and MV/HV electrical infrastructure from construction through energization.

If you enjoy solving complex technical challenges, working with advanced testing equipment, and collaborating with experienced commissioning professionals, this role offers meaningful technical work and continuous professional growth.

This is a field-based position with travel to project sites across British Columbia and Western Canada on a 14/7 rotation.

What You'll Do
  • Lead testing and commissioning activities for MV/HV protection & control systems across utility, power generation, industrial, and infrastructure projects
  • Perform secondary injection testing using advanced relay test equipment, including Omicron CMC356 and CMC500
  • Conduct SCADA point testing and system verification
  • Read and interpret drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during commissioning and startup
  • Prepare and submit detailed commissioning reports
  • Assist with the development of commissioning procedures and work instructions
  • Communicate with clients to address technical inquiries, discuss issues, and confirm resolutions
  • Ensure compliance with corporate, client, and industry safety standards

Requirements

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Electrician Journeyman certification, or Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma
  • 4+ years of protection & control relay testing experience within the electrical utilities industry
  • Hands-on experience with advanced relay test equipment (e.g., Omicron CMC356, CMC500, or similar)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications
  • Proven analytical, risk assessment, and problem-solving abilities

Candidates must be legally authorized to work for any employer in Canada. Background checks and Drug & Alcohol testing will be required as part of employment. A valid driver's licence with a clean abstract is required.

Expected annual earnings: $164,500-$224,500, inclusive of base salary and overtime (actual earnings may vary based on experience and project requirements).
