ย ย ย ย ย ย Protec Building Service is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Business Development & Marketing Intern to support our expansion into new commercial service sectors throughout the San Diego region.


For more than 30 years, Protec Building Service has been a trusted provider of maintenance, repair, and plumbing services for homeowner associations (HOAs). As we continue to grow, we are exploring opportunities to bring our expertise to commercial property management firms, medical facilities, senior living communities, municipalities, and other institutional clients.


Position Overview

This summer intern position will focus on researching and identifying potential client opportunities within targeted industries. The ideal candidate will be comfortable conducting market research, gathering decision-maker information, analyzing service opportunities, and helping develop strategic outreach initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Research commercial property management companies throughout San Diego County.
  • Identify and compile information on medical office buildings, healthcare facilities, hospitals, and related organizations.
  • Research senior living communities, assisted living facilities, independent living communities, memory care facilities, and continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs).
  • Research local municipalities, public agencies, and government facilities that may require maintenance and plumbing services.
  • Identify facility managers, property managers, operations directors, maintenance directors, procurement contacts, and other key decision-makers.
  • Maintain and organize prospect databases and contact lists.
  • Analyze market opportunities and provide recommendations for business development efforts.
  • Assist in developing outreach strategies and target account lists.
  • Prepare summary reports and findings for company leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong internet research and data organization skills.
  • Ability to use AI, like Chat GPT & Claude, in researching topics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
  • Familiarity with commercial real estate, facilities management, healthcare facilities, senior living operations, construction and maintenance, or service industries is a plus, but not necessary.
