How much do prosthodontists jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 25, 2026, the average yearly pay for prosthodontists in the United States is $210,137.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $155,000.00 and $250,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

Is a prosthodontist salary worth the schooling?

Prosthodontists typically earn higher salaries compared to general dentists due to specialized training in restoring and replacing teeth, with median annual incomes often exceeding $180,000. The extensive education, which includes a dental degree and a prosthodontics residency, is offset by the potential for higher earnings and advanced clinical skills, making the investment in schooling generally worthwhile for those committed to specialization. However, the long training period and student debt should be considered when evaluating the financial return.

Are prosthodontists in demand?

Prosthodontists are in steady demand due to an aging population and increased awareness of dental health, with opportunities in private practices, hospitals, and clinics. They require specialized training and certification, and employment prospects are generally favorable in the healthcare industry.

How much does a prosthodontist make per month?

Prosthodontists typically earn between $10,000 and $20,000 per month, depending on experience, location, and whether they work in private practice or a clinical setting. Their specialized skills in restoring and replacing teeth often command higher salaries within the dental profession.

What is the difference between Prosthodontists vs Endodontists?

AspectProsthodontistsEndodontists
CredentialsDental degree, specialty certification in prosthodonticsDental degree, specialty certification in endodontics
Work EnvironmentDental clinics, hospitals, labs for crowns, bridges, denturesDental clinics, hospitals for root canals and pulp therapy
Industry UsageRestorative and cosmetic dentistryRoot canal treatments and pulp preservation

Prosthodontists and Endodontists are both dental specialists with advanced training. Prosthodontists focus on restoring and replacing teeth with crowns, bridges, and dentures, while Endodontists specialize in treating the dental pulp and performing root canals. Both roles require specialized certification and work in similar clinical settings, but their focus areas differ significantly.

Where do prosthodontists make the most money?

Prosthodontists tend to earn higher salaries in metropolitan areas with higher living costs and greater demand for specialized dental services. States or regions with a higher concentration of private practices or academic institutions may also offer increased earning potential. Factors such as experience, reputation, and advanced certifications can further influence income levels for prosthodontists.
