As a member of our Credits, Incentives and Methods (CIM) group, you will be performing tax consulting and advisory services, assisting a variety of taxpayers realize a greater return on their investments via detailed analyses such as cost segregation studies, energy efficient building deduction and credit certifications, Federal tax depreciation method reviews and fixed asset management services.

About the Role

As a Tax Supervisor in the Tangible Property Services(TPS)group, you willbe responsible foranalyzing clients' fixed assets and depreciation through cost segregation studies,federaltax depreciation method reviews, and fixed asset management services. You will oversee and train associates and senior associates on these projects,identifyingtechnical issues,researchingsolutions, andensuringhigh-quality deliverables.

Candidate Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed analyses of building construction project costs andacquiredproperties (cost segregation studies).

  • Perform quantity takeoffs from blueprints, construction cost estimating, review and analyze construction project invoices and cost documentation, physically inspect client facilities, research relevant tax authority, prepare engagement documentation, and draft reports for clients.

  • Review clients' capital maintenance, repair, and improvement expenditures for proper tax accounting treatment, and accuratelymaintaintax depreciation in various software packages (fixed asset management).

  • Review historical fixed asset depreciation schedules, develop import files compatible with software packages, upload current year asset addition/disposition data, reconcile data between book and tax,maintainMicrosoft Excel roll-forward schedules, and update historical asset records within the software.

  • Train and developTPStax associates and senior associates, providing support for project engagements through developing scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and deliverables.

  • Research and understand tax technical issues to apply tax guidance to clients on tangible property matters.

  • Frequent (10% to 20% of time) out-of-town travel and direct client contact are expected.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, accounting, or business management from an accredited university

  • Minimum four years of related experience in construction engineering or management, construction cost estimating, cost segregation, or capital assets accounting and depreciation

  • Experience interpreting construction drawings

  • Knowledge of building systems, construction techniques, construction documentation, and cost estimating techniques

  • Strong computer skills, includingproficiencyin Microsoft Excel

  • Demonstrated ability to meet client service, quality, and performance expectations within applicable deadlines andin accordance withfirm and client standards

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact clearly, professionally, and effectively with firm personnel and clients

  • Effective project management skills, including managing multiple priorities, tasks, and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines andmaintainingaccuracy and quality of work in a fast-paced, client service environment

  • Comfortable working in a professional office environment and, as required by the role, at client sites, including sitting for extended periods and using standard office equipment

  • Reliable onsite presence during core business hours, including regular attendance at a firm office location and travel to client sites asrequired, with access to dependable transportation

  • Flexibility to work extended and/or non-standard hours during peak periods or as necessary to meet client, project, or firm business needs

  • An active accreditation obtained, in process or willing and able to obtain one of the following: CPA, EA, licensed attorney, or one ofthe alternativecertificationsthat meets RSM requirements certifications

At RSM, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $86,500 - $164,500

Individualsselected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
