What is property restoration?

Property restoration is the process of repairing and returning a property to its original or improved condition after it has been damaged by events such as water, fire, mold, storms, or other disasters. Restoration professionals assess the extent of the damage, remove debris, clean and disinfect affected areas, and carry out necessary repairs or reconstruction. Their goal is to restore the property to a safe, functional, and visually appealing state, often working with insurance companies and property owners throughout the process.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a property restoration specialist?

To thrive as a Property Restoration Specialist, you need expertise in building repair, water and fire damage remediation, and safety regulations, often supported by certifications like IICRC. Familiarity with restoration equipment, moisture meters, and project management software is typically required. Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and customer service skills help you manage stressful situations and reassure clients. These abilities are crucial for delivering effective restoration services, ensuring safety, and maintaining client trust during property emergencies.

What are some of the most common challenges faced by property restoration professionals during a project?

Property restoration professionals often encounter challenges such as coordinating with multiple parties (homeowners, insurance adjusters, and contractors), working under tight deadlines, and addressing unexpected structural or environmental issues that arise once a project begins. Additionally, adapting to rapidly changing site conditions—such as water damage spreading or mold development—requires quick problem-solving and effective communication. Success in this role depends on staying organized, remaining flexible, and maintaining clear, empathetic interactions with clients who may be experiencing stressful situations.

When disaster strikes, homeowners and businesses turn to Rainbow Restoration for help recovering from water damage, fire damage, mold remediation, biohazard cleanup, contents restoration, and reconstruction services. Our team helps customers navigate some of the most stressful situations they will ever face, and we take pride in restoring not only properties, but peace of mind.
As a Business Development Representative, you'll be the face of Rainbow Restoration in the marketplace, building relationships with plumbers, insurance professionals, insurance agents, adjusters, property managers, facility managers, contractors, municipalities, and other referral partners throughout Southeast Michigan.

• Build and maintain relationships with referral partners and strategic business contacts
• Develop and execute sales and territory growth plans
• Conduct in-person visits and presentations to prospective referral sources
• Attend networking events, trade associations, community functions, and industry meetings
• Create and maintain sales routes and CRM records
• Follow up with existing referral partners to strengthen relationships and generate repeat opportunities
• Collaborate with operations and marketing teams to ensure an exceptional customer experience
• Track activities, opportunities, and results through regular reporting
• Meet and exceed business development goals
What We're Looking For
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
• Professional communication and presentation abilities
• Self-motivated with strong organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Sales, marketing, business development, customer service, account management, or relationship management experience preferred
• Experience in restoration, construction, insurance, property management, or home services is a plus
• CRM experience preferred
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: $50,000 - $60,000 annually
Additional Earnings: Competitive commission plan with uncapped earning potential. High performers have the opportunity to significantly increase their compensation through relationship development and business growth.
Benefits Include:
• Medical insurance
• Dental insurance
• Vision insurance
• 15 days of paid time off annually to start
• 9 paid holidays
• Retirement plan with company matching contributions
• Ongoing professional development and training
• Career advancement opportunities within a growing organization
