Job description

Who We Are

Community Automotive Repair started in 1975. Our shop is locally owned and operated. We are adding to our team of highly trained professionals. As a Master Certified Technician you can expect to join a team of the very best technicians in the Greater Grand Rapids area. We offer a stable, secure, and safe working environment. We're a very busy shop and need your help to propel us to the next level. Plus our pay and benefits rock!

The Position

As an Advanced Automotive Technician, you’re the go-to problem-solver for vehicles other shops can’t pin down. This role exists to deliver accurate diagnostics and high-level repairs that keep our workflow moving and our standards high.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform advanced diagnostics across complex electrical and drivability concerns
- Work in areas such as EV/Hybrid systems, performance upgrades, and major engine/transmission repair
- Follow a clear cause-and-effect process to identify secondary failures and related system issues
- Produce 40–55 hours (Level 3/4) or prioritize diagnostic accuracy as the primary specialist
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years of professional technician experience with strong diagnostic tool mastery
- State Certifications required
- ASE Master preferred (or ready to complete immediately)
If you’re ready to work at the top of your skill set, apply now.

Your Typical Day

You’ll start by testing and inspecting vehicles to evaluate symptoms. Most of your morning is spent thinking, testing, and verifying—scanning data, running parameters, and documenting what you found and recommending next steps or repairs. The majority of the afternoon is spent solving the issues found through services and repairs. This mixes with preventative maintenance and factory recommended services on European, Import, and Unique vehicles. Between jobs, you keep your work area organized, complete quality control, and prioritize your workflow with the team.
