Propane Delivery Driver / Service Technician

Dont have a CDL? Thats ok. We are willing to invest in the right person. We will cover all costs to get a CDL while working at Excel Propane.

For the last 50 years, Excel Propane has been providing propane, with amazing customer service, to residential and commercial customers throughout West- and Mid-Michigan. We are a 2nd generation family owned company with 5 offices and 2 refueling bulk plants in Michigan. Currently, we have around 45 team members at Excel. Job Description:

The current job opening is for a Propane Delivery Driver / Service Tech at our Ionia office.

Primary job responsibilities include:

- Customer Service: At Excel, regardless of your job title, this is your #1 responsibility. Our customers have a variety of options for propane - they choose us because of our service.

- Propane Delivery: Driving a propane delivery truck (bobtail) to refill customers propane tanks.

- Truck Maintenance: Completing daily pre- and post-trip inspections of the trucks. Help maintain a well-running and good-looking fleet.

- Propane Service: Install propane service at customer locations. Drive and operate a crane truck to install the propane tank. Trench and install new gas line to connect the propane service to the customers home. Complete safety checks and leak tests to ensure all work is completed safely.

- Everything else: We are a small business and that means we all do it all. From cleaning the office, to mowing the lawn, to painting tanks.


Job Requirements:

- A CDL is not required to apply, but of course welcomed. If you do not have a CDL, we will help you obtain a Class BX CDL while working.

- Applicant will need to pass a DOT physical and Drug Test.

- Applicant will need to pass HAZMAT background check.

- Applicants Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and Criminal Background Check needs to be approved by the insurance carrier.

- Job requires the ability to lift 70+ lbs and complete physical tasks.


Job Benefits:

- Pay: starting $24.75 per hour, with $1 per hour raise to $25.75 per hour after obtaining a CDL. Additional pay is available depending on prior propane experience.

- Full-Time work year round. Excel has never had layoffs.

- Family friendly schedule: 8am - 5pm Mon-Fri. (Some extra hours in winter).

- Health Insurance: Excel pays 75% of premium.

- Dental Insurance: Excel pays 50% of premium

- Vision Insurance: Excel pays 50% of premium

- Retirement: After 2 years of employment, SEP-IRA fund with Excel contributing 6% - no match required.

- Short Term Disability paid by company

- Long Term Disability available.
