Gaining experience with editing tools and obtaining certifications such as the Certified Proofreader credential can improve job prospects; many proofreaders work freelance or for publishing companies with flexible schedules.

How do I get work as a proofreader?

To get work as a proofreader, build strong language and editing skills, often through a relevant degree or certification, and create a portfolio of sample work. Many proofreaders find opportunities through freelance platforms, job boards, or by networking with publishing or editing companies.
