Proofing Office Staff


Proofing Office Staff is responsible for ensuring correctness and consistency in ministry correspondence and communications. The proofer proofreads and edits documents with accuracy, clarity, and conciseness; provides relief desk coverage; and supports other ministry departments as needed.


Proof Ministry Correspondence

Proofread and process correspondence to ensure accuracy and completeness. Follow coding slip directions and job instructions. Research addresses for completeness and conformity to ministry style. Add enclosures, stuff envelopes, and process letters.

Edit Ministry Work

Assist with light editing for new and revised jobs such as letter masters, glossary inserts, manual updates, all-personnel emails and newsletters, and other requests from ministry departments. Ensure that each job follows ministry style guidelines and has correct grammar, mechanics, spelling, and formatting, all while considering clarity, conciseness, and effectiveness.

Provide Desk Coverage

Assume receptionist responsibilities for outlying office assistants when needed. Answer the phone, take messages, greet guests, make appointments, and assist with additional tasks as needed.

Assist with Various Projects

Assist with making deliveries, training new employees, helping visitors, chaperoning, and supporting other offices when additional workers are needed.

Physical Requirements and Skills

Ability to lift 15+ pounds, Capable of standing and walking for long periods of time, Communication, Computer Literacy, Microsoft Office, Operating Office Equipment, Sitting for long periods of time, Successful completion of proofreading assessment
