What is a Prompt Engineering job?

A Prompt Engineering job involves designing, refining, and optimizing prompts to improve the performance of AI language models. Prompt engineers work with large language models (LLMs) to generate accurate, relevant, and high-quality responses. They experiment with different phrasing techniques, fine-tune AI outputs, and collaborate with developers to enhance model capabilities. This role is essential in ensuring AI systems provide reliable and useful responses for various applications.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Prompt Engineering position, and why are they important?

To excel in Prompt Engineering, a strong grasp of natural language processing (NLP), machine learning concepts, and analytical thinking is essential, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with AI platforms, code repositories (such as GitHub), and prompt development tools is typically required. Excellent problem-solving, creativity, and cross-functional communication skills help Prompt Engineers effectively collaborate and refine model outputs. These capabilities enable the creation of precise, effective prompts driving high-quality AI responses in rapidly evolving technical environments.

What are the most common challenges faced by Prompt Engineers in their daily work?

Prompt Engineers frequently encounter challenges such as ensuring the clarity and relevance of prompts to achieve accurate AI responses, troubleshooting inconsistent model behavior, and staying updated with evolving AI technologies. Balancing experimentation with efficiency is often essential, as iterative testing and refinement are core parts of the workflow. Collaboration with data scientists, product managers, and other engineers is common, requiring adaptability and strong communication skills. These challenges make the role dynamic and rewarding for professionals who enjoy problem-solving and innovation.

Job description

Job Summary:
RevSpring is focused on integrating AI into their commercial operations, and they are seeking a Lead for Agentic Operations and GTM Engineering. This role involves building infrastructure to connect various systems and automate workflows while ensuring governance and measurement of AI processes.
Responsibilities:
• Systems integration & orchestration — your core focus. Connect our existing stack — HubSpot, Salesforce, Absorb (LMS), Claude, Chat, and Groove — into one coordinated system. Using APIs, webhooks, and orchestration platforms, you’ll make data and actions flow across the CRM, marketing automation, the LMS, and the AI layer, so a process can run from trigger to AI step to system-of-record update without manual handoffs. Everything else is built on top of this.
• Governed AI workflows. Design AI workflows that are controlled by default: permissioned access, approval gates, human-in-the-loop checkpoints, brand- and compliance-safe outputs, and complete logging. Leadership should always be able to see what an automation did, trace why, and stop any step. Control is built in, not bolted on.
• AI agents & tooling. Build and maintain the AI content engine, prompt libraries, and Claude-based (and other LLM) agents that power demand generation, BDR prospecting, product marketing, and enablement.
• Workflow automation. Find the repetitive, high-friction work across the commercial team — lead routing, handoffs, content assembly, reporting, onboarding and training in Absorb, and follow-up — and automate it from end to end.
• Measurement & attribution. Own the data behind pipeline reporting: MQL-to-SQL conversion, cost per opportunity, campaign and channel ROI, and BDR pipeline contribution. Build the dashboards leadership uses to decide where to invest.
• Enabling the team. Be the in-house expert who helps Marketing, BDR, and Enablement adopt these workflows, and who translates between commercial goals and technical execution.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Experience connecting GTM or commercial systems with APIs, webhooks, and orchestration platforms (such as Clay, Make, n8n, or Zapier) — building workflows across multiple tools, not one-off fixes.
• Hands-on experience with a modern commercial stack: a CRM (Salesforce and/or HubSpot), marketing automation, and the ability to get up to speed quickly on an LMS like Absorb.
• Practical fluency with LLMs and prompt engineering — ideally Claude or the Anthropic API — with real examples you’ve shipped.
• A control-and-governance mindset, with experience building automation that includes permissions, approval gates, human-in-the-loop checkpoints, and logging.
• Working coding ability in Python, JavaScript, or similar — enough to build, debug, and connect systems.
• Strong RevOps instincts: funnel mechanics, attribution, pipeline math, and the data discipline behind them.
• A B2B SaaS or revenue-technology background, ideally with exposure to healthcare and/or financial services.
• Direct experience administering or integrating Absorb (or a similar LMS) and Salesforce.
• Experience standing up an AI or automation capability — and its controls — from scratch.
• Comfort working as a team of one before building a team.
• APIs & webhooks: comfortable reading API documentation and building integrations with REST and JSON, including authentication (OAuth 2.0, API keys and tokens), pagination, and rate limits, plus triggering and consuming webhooks.
• Orchestration & automation platforms: hands-on with at least one of Make, n8n, Zapier, or Clay, building multi-step flows with branching logic, error handling, and retries — not just single-trigger automations.
• CRM data models: a clear understanding of how CRMs structure data — objects and records, fields, lifecycle stages, and lead-to-account relationships — and how data moves between marketing automation and the CRM in Salesforce and/or HubSpot.
• Scripting: the ability to write Python or JavaScript well enough to call an API, parse and transform JSON, and move or clean data. Engineering polish isn’t required; self-sufficiency is.
• LLMs & prompt engineering: practical prompt design (system versus user prompts, structured output, and chaining steps), a realistic sense of model limits such as hallucination and context windows, and the ability to judge output quality. Familiarity with Claude or the Anthropic API is a strong plus.
• RevOps fundamentals: funnel stages and definitions (MQL, SQL), conversion-rate and pipeline math, attribution basics, and the data hygiene that keeps reporting trustworthy.
• AI controls & governance: a clear sense of why permissions, approval gates, human-in-the-loop checkpoints, and audit trails matter — and the habit of building them in from the start.
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 4+ years of experience
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a variety of both internal and external sources.
