Job Title: Sr. Associate, Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days - totaling 80 hours worked - and have every other Friday off

Job Description:

In this role, the Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will support and interface across functional disciplines including Program Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Engineering personnel. The SQE will be an active and significant contributor in the evaluation, development and monitoring of key Suppliers and Subcontractors, create Quality requirements, participate in the generation and review of requirements, and validate flow down of expectations. The SQE will communicate and ensure our Suppliers and Subcontractors understand stated requirements, have the capability to consistently and predictively meet, and provide conforming products and services.

Essential Functions:

  • Supplier Assessment and Qualification:
    • Manage Supplier and Subcontractor performance and validate the implementation of effective procedures, test methods, and process controls, geared toward risk mitigation.
    • Perform audits of current and potential supplier's quality systems and manufacturing processes to assess their ability to consistently provide material that meets L3Harris requirements and specifications.
    • Lead the verification, validation and acceptance of proposed product design and Supplier and Subcontractor process changes.
  • Measure and Monitor Supplier Performance:
    • Proactively monitor, analyze, report on, and participate in the improvement of Supplier and Subcontractor process and product performance.
    • Track supplier performance and identify concerns by monitoring in-process and customer (external) quality issues.
    • Provide regular input to supplier scorecards
  • Supplier Corrective Actions:
    • Lead failure analysis, complex problem solving and corrective action efforts, and drive the development of technical solutions.
    • Participate in the review and disposition of nonconforming products while representing the organization as a prime technical resource.
    • Drive prompt resolution of supplier quality issues that affect L3Harris production and delivery capabilities.
    • Monitor responses to supplier corrective action requests to ensure timeliness and adequacy of responses.
    • Willingness and ability to travel up to 15-20% of the time.
  • Requires 15-25% travel: Note Portion of Critical Suppliers are located within the New England region and the Londonderry, NH Site

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum of 2 years prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 0-2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience. Additionally, alternate qualifications (e.g., certifications) considered with related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Interpersonal and communication (listening, verbal, and written) skills; comfortable presenting information in a team setting.
  • Organizational and project-management skills with the ability to monitor progress, mitigate problems/delays, and drive accountability.
  • Understanding of either thermal technology, lasers, machining/molding, optics, and/or electronics.
  • Experience in Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) a plus.
  • Beginning to intermediate knowledge of SPC/Data analysis skills and ability to perform DOE, FMEA, ANOVA and Gage R&R analysis a plus.
  • Understanding of six sigma principles, practices and techniques for maximum cost reduction and profit improvement.
