Position Overview

The Project Superintendent (PS) plays a key leadership role on the construction team, overseeing field operations and ensuring safe, high-quality HVAC installations on commercial projects. This role requires both technical expertise and people leadership - someone who can guide subcontractor crews, coordinate with project managers and general contractors, and maintain jobsite momentum.

You'll be part of a collaborative team of other experienced superintendents who value process, communication, and accountability while keeping a practical, hands-on approach to getting the job done right.

  • Organize expectations and workflow for subcontractors, confirm material readiness, and solve technical or logistical issues as they arise.
  • Provide leadership by example - supporting, instructing, and at times participating directly in installation activities to maintain project momentum.
  • Manage labor, materials, and equipment efficiently to meet project goals and schedules.
  • Enforce safety standards and proactively identify and address potential hazards.
  • Attend and participate in project meetings; report on progress, challenges, and key metrics.
  • Mentor and develop field staff, fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the General Superintendent and Project Manager.

What You'll Bring - Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; trade school certifications or equivalent field experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of commercial installation HVAC experience.

  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs/ladders, and stand for extended periods.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and hold teams accountable.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and decision-making abilities.
  • Dependable, adaptable under pressure, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Aligned with our CLEAR values: Committed, Loyal, Equitable, Accountable, Reliable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with integrity, respect, and cultural awareness.

Work Environment

Project Superintendents work primarily on active construction sites, leading field operations and managing Strictly Mechanical crews and subcontractors. The role is physically active and requires consistent presence in dynamic environments where HVAC systems are being installed. Superintendents must be comfortable working outdoors and indoors, often exposed to weather conditions, construction noise, and mechanical equipment. While occasional office visits may be required for coordination, the position is field-focused and demands strong situational awareness, mobility, and hands-on leadership. Regular travel to job sites is expected.
