Summary of Responsibilities
Merus is seeking an experienced, results-driven Project Superintendent to lead field operations on complex construction projects. In this role, you will oversee jobsite safety, scheduling, quality control, subcontractor coordination, site logistics, and workforce management to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with project plans and specifications.
We are looking for a strong field leader who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment and takes ownership of project success through proactive planning, effective communication, and sound decision-making. You will work closely with Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, design teams, subcontractors, and owners to resolve field challenges, maintain project schedules, and drive successful project execution from mobilization through completion.
Essential Job Functions
  • Coordinate and schedule subcontractor activities, including development and management of four-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Lead daily field operations to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to project schedules.
  • Develop, maintain, and proactively manage project schedules to achieve key milestones and contractual deadlines.
  • Coordinate project sequencing and field activities to maximize productivity and minimize delays.
  • Document daily construction activities, project progress, and field issues.
  • Review and understand project budgets, scopes of work, and subcontractor responsibilities.
  • Implement and enforce company safety policies and project-specific safety requirements.
  • Schedule, direct, and administer field labor in a cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure compliance with plans, specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes.
  • Communicate project progress, design issues, schedule impacts, and construction challenges with Senior Project Managers and Project Managers.
  • Maintain site security, general conditions, temporary facilities, and overall jobsite cleanliness.
  • Identify, address, and resolve field conflicts and project challenges.
  • Review drawings and design documents for constructability and coordination.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and managing project-specific quality control plans.
  • Lead subcontractor coordination meetings and communicate project expectations to all project participants.
  • Assist in developing schedule recovery plans when necessary.
  • Utilize scheduling software including SureTrak, Phoenix, P3, P6, Oracle Primavera Cloud, or similar platforms to support project planning and execution.

  • Ability to visually and audibly observe activities occurring on construction jobsites.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with management, project teams, subcontractors, owners, inspectors, and visitors.
  • Ability to coordinate field labor and project resources in a cost-effective manner.
  • Ability to clearly document and communicate project progress, field activities, and construction issues.
  • Strong organizational, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Qualifications and Experience
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of relevant commercial construction experience.
  • Experience managing industrial projects ranging from 50,000 to 500,000 square feet preferred.
  • Experience with commercial, multi-family, and mixed-use construction projects.
  • Working knowledge and experience in all phases of construction, including multi-story projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing project schedules and coordinating multiple trades on complex projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Experience with SureTrak, Phoenix, P3, P6, Oracle Primavera Cloud, or similar scheduling software preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, sequencing, quality control, and jobsite safety practices.
Safety Hazard of the Job
Normal safety hazards associated with office work, and with occasional observational visits to construction sites.
Physical Demands
The moderate physical effort required to sit, bend, stoop, lift, walk and climb. Maximum unassisted lift is 25 lbs. Average lift is less than 10 lbs. Requires ability to use a keyboard and monitor. Also requires the ability to communicate verbally, both in person and on the telephone. May require some travel by car/truck.
Environmental Requirements
Moderate to extreme outdoor conditions. Above average noise levels. Protective equipment is required. Average inside office environment. Average office noise levels. No personal protective equipment is required. Ambient temperature is between 68F and 76F.
