Job description

Hoffman Construction is seeking a Project Scheduling Manager. This individual will be an integral member of the on-site Scheduling Department, providing essential support throughout the lifecycle of a hyper-scaled data center construction project. Reporting to the Scheduling Department Scheduling Manager, the role will work closely with site leadership and cross-functional teams to manage day-to-day site activities, and to analyze project progress. The Scheduling Manager plays a critical leadership role, preparing presentations, bi-weekly progress narratives, and schedules to communicate across multiple scopes in a complex mission-critical environment. The position requires experience in managing and anticipates challenges and proactively resolve coordination issues in the field. ย This position will be fully at the project site near Childress, TX.

Salary Range: $110,000- $140,000 + Incentives & per diem

Essential Responsibilities:ย 

  • Lead the project team through the schedule development process from project initiation to closeout.
  • Facilitate schedule meetings, including superintendent planning, weekly work planning, and team schedule reviews.
  • Build schedule detail based on construction drawings and models with input from the project team.
  • Collect and input status updates.
  • Observe (walk) the jobsite to verify field progress.
  • Identify changes to the project schedule and notify the project team of impacts to critical path activities.
  • Ensure technical schedule integrity is maintained.
  • Produce and distribute weekly schedules, forecasts, and reports.
  • Analyze schedule variances, apportion delays, and support closure of time disputes.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to the project team on scheduling and schedule updates.
  • Bi-weekly meetings with scheduling team members to discuss any scheduling team needs, requests for time off, and career development opportunities for direct reports with suggested training.ย 

Qualifications:

Professional Experience and Educationย 

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent degree/certification and/or equivalent related work experience in data managementย required.ย 
  • Educational background in materials and methods of construction.
  • A minimum ofย five (5) years' construction project scheduling experience is required.
  • Extensive experience of large industrial and hi-techย fabricationย projects preferred.

Position Related Skills

  • Proficient inย Windows and Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams) and have a general understanding of working within a computer network.
  • Experience with project management software such as Prolog, Procore, E-Builder, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Primavera Project Planner (P6).
  • Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks.
  • Training in design and construction document reading, design specifications, survey theory and techniques.
  • Experience in organizing technical data in a neat and accurate method. Familiar with CSI specification system forย construction.
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of all aspects of construction.
  • Highly developed visual observation and interpretation skills.
  • Ability to work well and maintain a cooperative attitude through high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work while frequently interrupted by phone calls and questions on work in progress.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to work closely with a variety of trade and craft people in a field work situation. Patience and professionalism are essential.
  • Must be a strong team player with the ability to collaborate with various personnel within and across departments and at all levels of leadership.
  • Work schedule must be flexible to allow extended hours or off shift work to accommodate changing construction schedule and sequences.

  • Must be able to climb stairs: 5% of the day.ย 
  • Hands/Arms: constant use of hands/fingers for mouse/keyboard/computer use.ย 
  • Sight: visual acuity in near, mid, and far range vision. Color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, hand/eye coordination.ย 
  • Hearing:ย sufficientย to hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone.ย 
  • Speech:ย sufficientย to make oneself heard in person, speak in front of groups, and be understood over the telephone.
  • Lift/Carry: Up to 20lbs. Computer/drawings - minimal.
  • Bending/Twisting: minimal.ย 
  • Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: minimal.ย 
  • Constant mental alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail required.ย 
  • Must be able to work independently, make decisions, and follow through on all assignments.ย 
  • Must use creativity, independent judgment, and organizational and problem-solving skills to determine the best method to accomplish desired results.ย 
  • Must be able to plan and organize work.ย 
  • Must possess strong organizational and computer use skills and have a high level of competency to read/write/speak English, interpret construction related documentation and communicate with coworkers.ย
