Job description

Job Summary

As a member of the Planting Crew at Moon Valley Nurseries, you will play a vital role in the process of installing trees and plants for our customers. Your responsibilities will include planting trees and shrubs according to specifications, ensuring proper spacing and alignment, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. You will work closely with our team to deliver exceptional service and exceed customer expectations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plant trees, shrubs, and other plants according to landscape plans and specifications.
  • Ensure proper fertilization and planting techniques are followed to promote healthy growth and longevity of plants.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and complete projects on time.
  • Assist with loading and unloading plants, tools, equipment and any other equipment needed for the day's tasks, ensuring accurate counts and proper weight distribution.
  • Ensure the proper use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, and any other necessary protective gear to maintain personal safety.
  • Understand and recognize the significance of Blue Stake/811 colors at job sites to prevent damage to underground utilities and adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues
  • Demonstrated availability to work any day of the week.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform manual labor.
  • Previous experience in landscaping, horticulture, or a related field is preferred but not required
  • Previous experience with operating power tools, hand tools, and other equipment preferred.
  • Ability to follow specific instructions and safety protocols.
Education

High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Physical requirements/Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally exchange information with colleagues, managers and vendors. The position is active and may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day. The employee must frequently reach for, pull, lift, and/or move items weighing up to and over 75 lbs. The employee must be able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in possibly extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
