The Moon Cafe Coordinator

Full-Time Position Summary

The Moon Cafe Coordinator supervises the daily operations of The Moon Cafe, The Launch Pad Teen Center’s youth-focused cafe apprenticeship program. The Moon Cafe Apprenticeship is the third and final tier of The Launch Pad’s structured workforce development program, following Project Launch

and Brew to Crew Club. In this role, the Coordinator works closely with the Youth Leadership and Opportunities Director to support and strengthen all three tiers of the workforce development program, creating a seamless progression for teens as they develop leadership, employment, and life skills.

The Coordinator provides leadership, training, and mentorship to teen apprentices while ensuring the cafe operates efficiently, safely, and professionally. In addition, the Coordinator oversees key program initiatives, including the All Access Pass program, catering services, and grant reporting requirements.

Workforce Development & Teen Leadership

? Collaborate with the Youth Leadership and Opportunities Director to implement and strengthen Project Launch, Brew to Crew Club, and The Moon Cafe Apprenticeship programs.

? Interview, onboard, and train teen apprentices in customer service, barista skills, food safety, and workplace expectations.

? Create and manage weekly staff schedules and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.

? Encourage and provide opportunities for professional growth, leadership, communication, and self-advocacy among teen staff.

? Communicate with parents and guardians as needed.

? Conduct regular check-ins with apprentices, including academic progress reviews.

? Coordinate staff training, team-building activities, and celebration events.

? Provide coverage and support during shifts as needed.

Cafe Operations

? Oversee daily cafe operations, ensuring exceptional customer service and a welcoming environment for all patrons.

? Maintain food safety standards, cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and operational standards.

? Develop and oversee daily and weekly deep cleaning schedules and lists.

? Manage inventory, purchasing, labor costs, and cost-of-goods tracking.

? Oversee POS systems, cash handling, daily sales reporting, and operational records.

Program Management

? Manage the All Access Pass program, including meal distribution, Snack of the Day services, participant tracking, data collection, and grant reporting.

? Maintain accurate inventory, meal counts, and program documentation.

? Conduct participant surveys and compile data for grant reporting.

? Coordinate catering services and other workforce development opportunities that provide hands-on experience for teen apprentices.

Community Engagement

? Represent The Moon Cafe and The Launch Pad Teen Center at community events and other outreach opportunities.

? Build partnerships that support the cafe, workforce development initiatives, and create opportunities for teens.

? Coordinate catering events and community engagement initiatives.

Collaboration

? Work collaboratively with Launch Pad staff to support organization-wide programming.

? Assist with special projects and other duties as needed to ensure the success of all teen programming

Requirements:

? Experience in cafe management and/or customer service leadership.

? Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
? Experience supervising, mentoring, supporting, or working with adolescents
? Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and POS systems.

? A valid Driver’s License.

? High School Diploma or equivalency.

? Ability to handle multiple projects and responsibilities while prioritizing the needs and expectations of teen apprentices, and the needs of the cafe in a loud and busy environment

? Event planning and management experience preferred.

? Food Handlers and Food Manager’s Certification (required to obtain upon hire).
? Clear background check and fingerprint clearance card (required upon hire).
