Job description

SUMMARY OF POSITION: This position manages all Workers’ Compensation claim activities and provides technical guidance throughout the claims process. The role also supports key safety functions to maintain compliance and promote a safe workplace.

Essential Functions:

  • Under direction, plans, organizes, and administers the company’s Workers’ Compensation Program, including reviewing and processing claims
  • Serve as a technical resource to employees concerning Workers Compensation; respond to inquiries and provide technical information concerning related laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures; respond to calls from employees, third party administrator, physicians, medical facilities and others
  • Interfaces with physicians, attorney, employees, management staff to ensure quality care and appropriate return to work.
  • Stay abreast of trends and innovations in the field of workers’ compensation administration and keep current on regulatory issues at the State and Federal level.
  • Performs administrative duties related to safety and workers’ compensation, including processing accident reports and ensuring corrective actions are completed.
  • Responsible for maintaining workers’ compensation files, accidents reports, OSHA log and other state and federal recordkeeping as required.
  • Ensures compliance with powered vehicle training.
  • Leads the SAFE Council to promote health and safety initiatives.
  • Assists in safety related functions such as safety inspections, ergonomic evaluations and evaluating corrective actions to prevent injuries and illness.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of company safety programs, policies and procedures.
  • Track and analyze safety metrics, trends and leading indicators.
  • Assist with facilitating and coordinating program-related safety training as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Ability to communicate with tact, diplomacy, and assertiveness

· Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as required

· Willingness to address difficult and stressful situations with confidence and professionalism

· Ability to speak in front of large groups

· Ability to learn complex regulations and apply them in a fast-paced environment

· Ability to maintain confidentiality is a must

· Knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, with emphasis on Access

· Proven experience with analytical abilities

· Must be able to prioritize tasks and work on multiple projects with tight deadlines

Education and Experience

· Knowledge and experience with Workers’ Compensation benefit system preferred

· Knowledge and experience with safety preferred.

· Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Business or related field preferred.
