Job description
AOI is growing and we're looking for a driven Project Manager to lead commercial furniture projects from award through final installation.
If you're someone who thrives on organization, enjoys solving complex challenges, and takes pride in delivering an exceptional client experience, this role was built for you.
This is a highly collaborative position for someone who can balance client relationships, project execution, financial accountability, and team coordination. You'll serve as the central point of contact throughout each project to ensure every project is completed on time, within budget, and at the highest quality standards. Backed by AOI's 40-year reputation for excellence and representing MillerKnoll, the world's leading furniture brand, you'll help deliver workplaces that make a lasting impact.
What You'll Do
- Lead Project Execution: Manage contract furniture projects from project award through final completion, ensuring schedules, budgets, and quality expectations are achieved.
- Own Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle, providing proactive updates and building strong, long-term client relationships.
- Coordinate Cross-Functional Teams: Partner with Sales, Design, Operations, and vendors, to keep projects moving efficiently and resolve issues quickly.
- Manage Schedules & Resources: Develop project timelines, coordinate labor and installation resources, monitor product deliveries, and verify site readiness through field visits.
- Drive Financial Performance: Monitor project budgets, labor, freight, installation, and product costs while protecting project profitability and achieving targeted margins.
- Manage Change Orders & Risk: Identify scope changes, prepare change orders, document project extras, and proactively manage issues that could impact schedule, budget, or customer satisfaction.
- Ensure Successful Project Closeout: Complete punch lists, finalize documentation, verify customer satisfaction, and close projects accurately and efficiently.
What We're Looking For
- Experience: 3-5 years of project management experience; commercial furniture, construction, interiors, or related industry experience preferred.
- Project Leadership: Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously while balancing competing priorities.
- Financial Acumen: Experience managing project budgets, tracking costs, and understanding profitability throughout the project lifecycle.
- Relationship Builder: Professional communicator who develops strong client relationships and works effectively across multiple departments.
- Organized & Detail-Oriented: Exceptional planning, documentation, and follow-through skills with a high degree of accuracy.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, comfortable with CRM tools, and project management software.
What Will Make You Successful Here
- Ownership Mentality: You take full responsibility for your projects from kickoff through final closeout, ensuring every commitment is delivered.
- Proactive Problem Solver: You anticipate challenges before they become issues and confidently develop solutions that keep projects on track.
- Financial Accountability: You understand that successful projects require both satisfied clients and healthy profit margins, and you actively manage both.
- Operational Excellence: Organization, documentation, communication, and follow-through are second nature. Your projects run smoothly because nothing falls through the cracks.
- You partner naturally with AOI's design, sales, operations, and installation teams to deliver an experience that reflects well on everyone, and keeps clients coming back.
Here, you'll find
- The opportunity to partner with high-performing teams and world-class brands across Omaha and beyond.
- A proven sales process and dedicated support system designed to help you win, from first contact to final install.
- A culture that values independence, celebrates achievement, and rewards growth.
- The freedom to build your career and make a lasting impact on the clients and communities we serve.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive Salary
- Comprehensive health, dental and vision
- 401k with company match
- Paid vacation, sick pay and holidays
- Tuition reimbursement

- Occasional travel for industry conferences and MillerKnoll trainings
- AOI provides all necessary travel accommodations
