Job description

Job Summary

As a Project Manager, you’ll be at the heart of daily operations — managing commercial door and hardware projects with confidence, precision, and a customer-first mindset. You’ll coordinate closely with contractors and customers, manage budgets and timelines, and ensure seamless delivery and installation of door and hardware systems using advanced tools like VT Online and Comsense.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all phases of project lifecycle, from client engagement to close-out, ensuring safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients, contractors, architects, and internal teams.
  • Plan, quote, phase, and execute projects, including detailed scopes of work and construction strategies.
  • Review documentation, blueprints, and sales sheets to confirm specifications, pricing, and compliance with UL, ADA, and life safety codes.
  • Prepare accurate shop drawings, takeoffs, and estimates using Comsense and VT Online software.
  • Coordinate material sourcing, delivery logistics, and subcontractor activities to meet schedules and budgets.
  • Conduct site walks, issue RFIs/RFPs, and develop comprehensive bid submittals.
  • Administer change orders, manage project documentation, invoicing, and payments.
  • Provide daily project oversight, including scheduling, job site operations, and final client handoffs.
  • Mentor Project Engineers and contribute to a collaborative, cross-trained team environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement by resolving technical and logistical challenges in real time.
Qualifications
  • 5–10+ years of experience in doors, frames, and hardware (commercial projects preferred).
  • Proven background working with a distributor (not manufacturing-only).
  • Solid understanding of building codes, ADA compliance, and fire ratings.
  • Strong working knowledge of Division 8 submittals, specifications, and material selection.
  • Proficient in performing door and hardware takeoffs and pricing manually (pen/pad or spreadsheet).
  • Familiarity with ERP or project management software (CommSense preferred, training available).
  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects independently.
  • Comfortable adapting to new systems and workflows.
  • Leadership & Culture Fit
    • Demonstrates a “cradle-to-grave” project management mindset with full ownership of assigned projects.
    • Self-motivated, accountable, and collaborative in communication and teamwork.
    • Willingness to mentor and support junior team members (for senior-level positions).
    • Aligns with a family-owned, team-focused culture, values craftsmanship, loyalty, and teamwork over corporate politics.
Benefits
  • Competitive base salary
  • Performance-based bonuses
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and paid holidays

Robust Benefits Package

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance (excellent PPO plans, company-portion paid)
  • $25K Paid Company Life Insurance
  • Health Savings Account (HSA)
  • Supplemental insurance options
  • Employee referral program
