Job description

As a Project Manager - Construction & Maintenance, you will oversee and facilitate the execution of maintenance repairs and capital projects for buildings and petroleum systems within an assigned region. Your goal will be to ensure facilities remain safe, operational, compliant, and aligned with Irving brand standards while effectively managing project budgets, timelines, and stakeholder expectations. This role requires extensive travel throughout the region, with approximately 65% of time spent in the field supporting project execution and facility operations. Your success will be demonstrated through the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective maintenance solutions, strong vendor and stakeholder relationships, and the consistent application of regulatory, safety, and operational standards.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Manage maintenance repair and capital projects through the full project lifecycle, including site assessments, scope development, estimating, approvals, execution, and closeout
  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring compliance with company processes, safety requirements, industry regulations, and quality standards
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and records to support reporting requirements and mitigate organizational risk
  • Receive, assess, prioritize, and coordinate maintenance service requests through approved vendors while monitoring vendor performance
  • Collaborate with Independent Dealers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to deliver cost-effective solutions that align with Irving branding and operational standards
  • Conduct site visits to inspect workmanship, resolve construction issues, and ensure projects are completed safely and effectively
  • Coordinate third-party service providers and ensure required safety controls and site requirements are in place before work begins
  • Manage maintenance budgets, monitor project spending, and provide timely updates and reporting to the Retail Facilities Manager
  • Travel extensively throughout the assigned region (approximately 65% of the time) to inspect sites, oversee project execution, support maintenance activities, and engage with dealers, vendors, and contractors

Your Skills:

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, building codes, and regulatory requirements
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills with keen attention to detail
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills with vendors, contractors, dealers, and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively while delivering results with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of facilities maintenance, construction, and petroleum industry operations is considered an asset

Your Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in engineering, construction management, facilities management, or a related field
  • 5-10 years experience in facilities maintenance, construction project management, or a related field
  • Facilities maintenance and/or petroleum industry training or experience is considered an asset

The expected salary range for this position is $75,500 - $111,660. Placement within the range will be based on relevant experience, qualifications and skills.
