Job Description
The Project Manager / Project Architect for Healthcare is a dual-responsibility role that combines strong project management leadership with advanced architectural and technical expertise. This professional manages all phases of healthcare projects-ensuring design excellence, technical quality, budget adherence, and client satisfaction-while guiding multidisciplinary teams through planning, documentation, and construction.
Ideal candidates are innovative, collaborative thinkers with the ability to balance client expectations, team leadership, design priorities, and financial performance across complex healthcare work.
Duties and Responsibilities
Project & Technical Leadership
  • Manage all phases of multiple small to mid-sized healthcare projects, demonstrating technical expertise across project scales and complexities.
  • Oversee construction document production, BIM model management, detailing, and technical coordination.
  • Provide final review and approvals of code analysis, material selections, and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with AHCA requirements and all applicable building codes.
  • Implement methods to improve documentation quality and reduce project risk; mentor junior staff in best practices.
  • Advocate for design excellence and maintain design intent throughout all phases of the project.

Team Management & Collaboration
  • Supervise small to large project teams; delegate tasks, coordinate work, and review and approve work of internal staff and external consultants.
  • Coordinate daily and weekly with Project Manager(s) and PIC on workplans, staffing, and project needs.
  • Adjust workplans and team allocations as necessary to ensure efficient and technically feasible project execution.
  • Support a collaborative, inclusive work environment that emphasizes accountability and design quality.

Client & Consultant Interface
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients on design, technical, and project coordination matters.
  • Attend and lead client meetings; communicate project updates, decisions, and expectations.
  • Coordinate regularly with consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project alignment and timely issue resolution.

Financial & Project Management
  • Estimate fees and help define scope of services with the PIC.
  • Actively manage project budgets, schedules, staffing plans, and financial performance indicators in Deltek.
  • Complete weekly timesheet approvals, monthly workplan updates, and prepare for internal project review meetings.
  • Support timely invoicing and oversee billings and A/R.
  • Prepare Additional Service Requests in coordination with the PIC.
  • Deliver projects at or above expected profit margins while maintaining high-quality standards.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Architecture.
  • Registered Architect required.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in an architecture office with at least 3 years in healthcare.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing healthcare projects.
  • Strong expertise in AHCA compliance and healthcare facility design.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit; familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and SketchUp.
  • Proven ability to lead design, documentation, and construction administration processes.
  • Excellent communication, mentoring, collaboration, and client-management skills.
  • Ability to use sound, independent judgment and solve complex problems effectively.
  • Local to Orlando or within central Florida and able to use Orlando as point of origin for work/travel purposes, and/or willing to relocate to the Orlando area.
