Job description

Senior Civil Project Manager

The Senior Civil Construction Project Manager for Fulcrum Civil Construction leads the planning, coordination, and execution of projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role oversees site development, earthwork, grading, drainage, roadway construction, and underground utility installation while managing teams, schedules, budgets, and client relationships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple civil construction projects from conception through completion
  • Oversee site development activities including clearing, grading, storm drainage, paving, and erosion control
  • Direct installation of underground utilities (water, sewer, storm, gas, and conduit systems)
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate project schedules, budgets, and forecasts
  • Coordinate with owners, developers, engineers, municipalities, inspectors, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and all local, state, and federal regulations
  • Identify material needs, coordinate submittals and shop drawings, and manage procurement and delivery logistics
  • Assist with preconstruction activities including estimating, sourcing materials, and site evaluations (including fill and aggregate needs)
  • Maintain and distribute current plan sets and coordinate with engineers for CAD files and GPS machine control models
  • Monitor project performance, costs, and productivity; implement corrective actions as needed
  • Manage contracts, change orders, pay applications, and billing documentation (Schedule of Values)
  • Provide regular project updates and reports to clients and company leadership
  • Coordinate labor and equipment needs with Field Operations
  • Ensure quality construction standards and proper construction techniques are followed
  • Mentor and support civil foremen and field personnel
  • Travel to job sites as required (approximately 25%)

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in civil construction (commercial site development, heavy civil, utilities preferred)
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects and/or large-scale projects ($10M+)
  • Strong background in earthwork, mass grading, stormwater systems, and underground utilities
  • Experience working with municipalities, DOTs, and private developers
  • Proficiency with project management and scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project, Procore, HCSS, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and civil engineering principles
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project financials, including budgets, forecasting, and pay applications
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and pre-employment physical

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
