The Senior Manager, Packaging leads continuous improvement and innovation initiatives to enhance packaging efficiency and reduce costs. This role oversees supplier defect reduction efforts and compliance with industry standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent communication. The position drives multiple business plans, manages packaging content development, and resolves operational challenges. Additionally, it provides leadership and development for associates, fostering a high-performing team environment. The role requires strong project management and communication skills to support Walmart’s commitment to operational excellence and customer value.
About the team:
The Packaging Product Development team is a focused group within Walmart’s Quality organization, specializing in packaging engineering and innovation. They design and enhance packaging solutions that improve automation readiness, reduce defects, and increase operational efficiency across the supply chain. Collaborating with suppliers, merchants, and cross-functional teams, they address complex packaging challenges to optimize product flow and support long-term automation strategies. This team plays a vital role in advancing packaging processes that contribute to a faster, safer, and more reliable supply chain experience, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence throughout Walmart’s distribution network.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and packaging innovation to enhance process efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Manage packaging defect reduction efforts by evaluating resources, quality control, equipment specifications, and cost management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain consistent packaging content for suppliers.
  • Resolve packaging content issues by coordinating solutions and establishing best practices and standards.
  • Drive execution of business strategy by identifying needs, removing obstacles, and measuring performance.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development opportunities to build a high-performing packaging team.
