The Company

This is a growing construction and development business specializing in the design and installation of renewable energy systems across commercial and residential applications. The business operates across multiple project types and facility categories, managing projects from conception through commissioning. The team is structured, process-driven, and focused on building scalable operational capability as the business expands its project pipeline.


The Role

The Assistant Project Manager supports the full lifecycle of construction and installation projects, working under the direction of a Senior Project Manager and Director of Construction. This role is responsible for assisting in planning, executing, and delivering projects on scope, schedule, and budget. It serves as a coordination hub across internal teams, subcontractors, design professionals, consultants, clients, and utility representatives. The position is primarily office-based in Greenville, South Carolina, with periodic site visits, and operates Monday through Friday on standard business hours with limited remote flexibility.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, execution, and delivery of construction and installation projects, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget requirements are met under the guidance of senior leadership
  • Help define project scope, objectives, and schedules, track milestones and deliverables, and coordinate across internal teams and external partners
  • Coordinate with production and logistics teams to ensure timely supply of equipment and materials for shipping and installation
  • Support preparation and tracking of project budgets, and review invoices and pay applications for accuracy prior to submission for internal and client approval
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, design professionals, consultants, and utility representatives to support efficient project execution
  • Attend regularly scheduled company, departmental, and project coordination meetings
  • Assist with research, documentation, and assessments related to site conditions, feasibility considerations, and entitlement requirements, and conduct periodic site visits as required
  • Research zoning, land use regulations, and permitting requirements, and support the permitting process by coordinating documentation and submissions with consultants, engineers, and authorities having jurisdiction
  • Support compliance with permitting, environmental, and development standards, and coordinate with engineers and consultants related to utility interconnectivity and inspections
  • Support day-to-day coordination of subcontractors, design professionals, and consultants, ensuring clear communication and alignment with project requirements
  • Identify potential project risks and issues, escalate concerns to senior project leadership, and assist in tracking mitigation actions
  • Assist with procurement activities, including preparing subcontractor agreements, purchase orders, and tracking vendor commitments under the direction of senior project leadership
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation, and prepare regular project status updates for senior management including schedule, budget, and risk summaries


Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree is preferred, or a two-year technical degree in construction management, civil engineering, real estate development, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in construction management, commercial real estate development, project management, or engineering, with meaningful exposure to project lifecycle responsibilities
  • Familiarity with project budgeting, cost tracking, and invoice review processes
  • Experience supporting permitting, entitlement, or regulatory compliance activities is a plus
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple internal and external stakeholders simultaneously with strong organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear project status reports and documentation
  • Comfortable working in a structured, process-driven environment with established procedures and reporting cadences
  • Willingness to conduct periodic site visits as required by project needs
