What is a project manager IT services?

A Project Manager in IT Services is a professional responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing information technology projects within an organization. They coordinate teams, manage resources, set timelines, and ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Their work involves communicating with stakeholders, mitigating risks, and making sure technical solutions align with business goals. Project Managers in IT Services play a crucial role in delivering technology solutions that meet organizational needs and drive business success.

How does a project manager IT services typically collaborate with technical and non-technical teams during a project lifecycle?

As a Project Manager in IT Services, you act as a critical bridge between technical teams (such as developers and engineers) and non-technical stakeholders (like clients, vendors, or management). You facilitate clear communication, translate business requirements into actionable tasks for technical staff, and ensure both sides are aligned on project goals and timelines. Regular meetings, progress updates, and status reports are common responsibilities, as is managing expectations and resolving conflicts. This collaborative approach helps deliver projects on time and within scope, while ensuring all parties are kept informed and engaged.

These skills ensure that IT projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational goals.

You are required to work with technical staff and lead technical projects, as well as administrate Jira boards/plans, maintain documentation, and manage agile process and workflow for the team. You will apply your technical and organizational skills to establish project goals, capture requirements, plan for dependencies, measure progress, and mitigate risks.  It will be your responsibility to be relentless in getting things done with a positive attitude. • Leadership and Communication Skills: Project leadership abilities with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Able to influence and work effectively with cross-functional teams and senior executives. Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, especially when driving change or resolving project issues.
  • Hands-On & Strategic Balance: Hands-on project management capability – willing and able to dive into project details – combined with strategic oversight. The candidate must be comfortable both doing and delegating.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or equivalent professional experience.

Additional Desired Qualifications
