Job description

Purpose
The PACE Contracting Project Manager (Indianapolis Area) manages waste water, water treatment, and streetscape construction projects from inception to completion as a general contractor, while demonstrating excellent leadership, planning and scheduling, project execution, financial management, and technical expertise. Pace Project Managers are a key leadership position within the organization, and shall have the ability to communicate with upper management, as well as field staff. The Project Manager will have the capacity to build the job mentally, and communicate it both verbally and in writing. Collaboration & cooperation amongst the team is imperative; we function as a team or we fail.
Job Responsibilities
Leadership
  • Provides and drives the project vision established in collaboration with the client to upper management, project team, subcontractors, and all other stakeholders.
  • Motivates project team members to realize the project vision.
  • Effectively communicates project constraints and goals.
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism.

Planning and Scheduling
  • Oversees construction projects from start to finish by developing a master project schedule that is updated and communicated to all subcontractors, suppliers, owners, and field personnel
    throughout the duration of the project to assure timely project(s) completion.
  • Identify scope of work and perform quantity takeoffs from engineering plans.
  • Establishes project(s) subcontract requirements and supplier scopes to be reviewed with divisional management.
  • Reviews submittals and ensures they are in compliance with drawings and specifications.
  • Generators and submits RFIs to owner/engineer.
  • Performs cost analysis on various construction methods.
  • Collaborates with project field personnel to develop three-week look ahead schedules detailing self-perform tasks along with subcontractor tasks.

Project Execution
  • Continually monitors project(s) to assure company and regulatory procedures are adhered to. Monitors project(s) purchasing activities to assure quality material and timely delivery at competitive costs.
  • Oversee change order justifications and inspector performance.
  • Coordinates with engineers, inspectors, and clients/owner representatives to isolate project issues and assists construction management in developing solutions.
  • Reviews field construction activity, engineering, and other field project(s) support activities with construction management and provides support in ensuring projects remain on schedule.
  • Coordinates with Superintendents on work with subcontractors to ensure all subcontract work is within project(s) scope and specifications.
  • Administers project(s) policies and procedures to subcontractors.

Financial Management
  • Responsible for controlling and tracking costs and maintaining profitability for the project(s).
  • Generating monthly cost to complete reports for division heads and company owners.
  • Ensure positive project cash flow for all projects.
  • Provide monthly project sales projections for the duration of the project.

Technical Expertise
  • Conducts regular project(s) inspections and advises project(s) supervision of work progress and quality of work.
  • Understands various civil, architectural, mechanical, and electrical construction methods.
  • Continuously supports safety and aids supervision in addressing areas and conditions requiring attention.

Education and Experience
  • B.S. Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience working for a similarly positioned contractor as a Project Manager. Project size ranges from $1 million to $10 million.
  • Previous experience working as a Foreman or Superintendent on similar projects a plus.
  • Estimating experience, a strong plus.
  • Proven ability to create and manage budget.
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail oriented.
  • Proficient in technology (MS Office Suite, Primavera, AutoCAD, Vista)
