Job Description Senior Project Manager Phoenix, AZ We are a leading specialty contractor in Phoenix, AZ, delivering comprehensive drywall assemblies, specialty ceilings, exterior framing, and interior painting. We've successfully managed some of the largest construction projects across the Western United States. Position Summary We seek an experienced Senior Project Manager with proven hands-on leadership in commercial drywall, framing, finishing, or ceilings.

This role demands mastery of multitasking in a fast-paced environment while driving maximum profitability. The ideal candidate combines strong leadership, deep financial acumen, and commitment to mentoring emerging team members. Key Responsibilities Project Execution & Oversight Hands-on management of projects exceeding $20M, maintaining full knowledge of the project scope from contract review and preconstruction through final billing.

Direct oversight of all assigned projects (or through subordinate PMs/Engineers), including scheduling, manpower, tools, and materials. Walks projects regularly and conducts weekly safety audits to uphold a culture of safety, quality, and team performance, while performing cost audits and detailed forecasting. Accountable for project completion, financial results, critical success factors, and customer satisfaction.

Ensure weekly site meetings are conducted and aligned with project goals and schedules. Enhance client relationships by proactively addressing concerns, managing expectations, and maintaining professional, solutions-focused communication. Serve as the primary client point of contact, coordinating with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve issues and provide clear updates and reports.

Financial Management & Cost Control Expert-level proficiency in cost estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and financial projection. Conduct weekly job cost reviews with proactive budget management and variance analysis. Lead contract negotiations, change order pricing, and maintain comprehensive documentation, demonstrating expert-level negotiation skills to protect project margins and client relationships.

Ensure timely monthly billings and accurate ERP job maintenance throughout the month. Plexxis proficiency required; experience with job costing, forecasting, and billing modules strongly preferred. Implement rigorous cost control measures across labor, materials, and subcontractors.

Maintain a complete understanding of the project schedule to align financial performance, manpower planning, and procurement with critical path milestones. Leadership & Team Development Mentor and provide guidance/training to Project Managers, Engineers, and our staff. Lead project teams, including oversight of PMs/Engineers on submittal packages, safety documentation, onboarding, front-end compliance, and client coordination.

Foster team morale and develop strong customer relationships through regular client engagement (monthly and quarterly). Oversee project kickoffs, defining goals, construction details, and success metrics. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey expectations, document decisions, and drive alignment across internal teams and external partners.

Preconstruction & Operations Collaborate with estimators on design, constructability reviews, and preconstruction planning. Coordinate with the Purchasing Manager for material procurement and deliveries. Attend all job site and office meetings, company training sessions, and events.

Required Qualifications 5+ years of senior management experience. Proven hands-on execution experience in commercial subcontracting, framing, and drywall construction with projects valued at $20M+. 10+ years of total project management experience in metal framing and drywall construction.

Advanced proficiency in financial forecasting, budgeting, projections, contract negotiation, and cost control. Expert understanding of contracts, drawings, schedules, specifications, and shop drawings, with a clear grasp of MEP and structural deferred submittals. Plexxis ERP experience required (job setup, cost management, and billing modules).

Bluebeam or similar PDF software proficiency. Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor staff. Expertise in CRM and Plexxis software.

Strong analytical problem-solving and risk management skills to anticipate and identify risks, troubleshoot on-site issues, handle delays or changes, and make quick, effective decisions. Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize managing multiple projects, deadlines, and competing demands without losing track of details. Proven ability to build and maintain strong client and subcontractor relationships, manage expectations, and negotiate changes to deliver high customer satisfaction.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills serve as the primary client point of contact and facilitate coordination among architects, engineers, and subcontractors. Preferred Qualifications Experience managing multiple $20M+ projects simultaneously. Advanced Excel skills for financial modeling and projections.
