Job Description

Engineering Innovation, Inc (EII) is a small, dynamic company looking for highly motivated individuals to join its project management team.  The project management team is responsible for coordinating efforts between the Engineering, Production, and Customer Support teams in order to facilitate the successful delivery of postal automation solutions to its customers.   This is a paid part-time position and is only open to U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents.

Candidates should be pursuing or have completed a degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or another STEM-related field; however, individuals with equivalent relevant technical or engineering-related work experience will also be considered. This role provides valuable hands-on experience in a technical project management environment and may lead to future full-time employment opportunities with EII for individuals who demonstrate strong performance and alignment with company needs.

What You’ll Do

As an Associate Technical Project Manager, you will support cross‑functional engineering teams and help keep projects organized, documented, and progressing toward delivery. You will gain experience working with mechanical, electrical, and software teams—building real project management skills in a technical environment.

Your responsibilities may include:

Project Coordination & Scheduling

  • Work with various teams to document tasks and assist in building project schedules
  • Manage simple project timelines and track milestones
  • Help ensure teams understand priorities, deadlines, and upcoming deliverables

Meetings & Communication

  • Record meeting notes, statuses, and action items clearly and consistently
  • Follow up with team members to ensure tasks are progressing as planned

Issue Tracking & Risk Management

  • Anticipate potential project issues and escalate concerns when necessary
  • Help mitigate risks by coordinating with the proper team members
  • Assist with identifying blockers and facilitating resolutions

Technical Support

  • Act as a technical resource for project teams when needed
  • Work with teams across mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines
  • Gain exposure to the full life cycle of technical projects

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support project managers with day‑to‑day administrative and organizational tasks
  • Participate in continuous improvement of project workflows
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You Bring

Engineering Innovation is looking for a motivated student who enjoys organizing, communicating, and helping technical teams stay aligned.

Successful candidates:

  • Ability to work:
    • Candidates who are currently enrolled as full-time students for the semester: Approximately 20 hours per week (Monday–Friday; no nights or weekends).
    • Candidates who are not currently enrolled as full-time students for the semester: Approximately 32 or more hours per week (Monday–Friday; no nights or weekends).
  • Are comfortable “speaking” multiple technical languages—mechanical, electrical, and software
  • Can manage simple project schedules and timelines
  • Have strong communication and documentation skills
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
  • Pay close attention to detail
  • Have strong negotiation or conflict‑resolution skills
  • Work well in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment

Bonus Skills (Not Required!)

Experience with any of the following is helpful, but not required:

Project Tools

  • Jira for project tracking and task management
  • Confluence for documentation and team collaboration
  • Microsoft Project for creating and managing project schedules

Productivity & Documentation Tools

  • MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
