Job Summary:

As a Fiber Splicer I, II, III, you will ultimately be responsible for installing, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining fiber optic networks for telecommunications infrastructure projects. You will perform aerial and underground fiber construction activities and deliver reliable fiber installations that meet customer and company quality standards. Your customers include telecommunications carriers, broadband providers, and Congruex project teams, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through technical expertise, quality workmanship, and safe project execution.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

  • Perform fiber optic splicing, testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and network activation for aerial and underground fiber systems.
  • Read and interpret work orders, engineering drawings, splice diagrams, and cut sheets to complete work accurately.
  • Install fiber optic cables, passive and active equipment, enclosures, and termination panels while utilizing OTDRs, light meters, and other testing equipment.
  • Complete production documentation, verify network performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with company safety standards.
  • Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs.

Required Qualifications:

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of fiber optic splicing experience.
  • Experience with aerial and underground telecommunications construction and fiber optic network installations.

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency using OTDRs, light meters, fusion splicers, hand tools, and fiber testing equipment.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, work orders, and technical specifications.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, teamwork, and organizational skills with a commitment to safe work practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience operating bucket trucks or other aerial work platforms.
  • Experience with telecommunications network testing, activation, and optimization.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
  • Work performed outdoors in all weather conditions and at heights while supporting aerial and underground construction activities.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
