We are actively seeking a Project Manager to join a growing heavy civil and general engineering contractor serving clients throughout the North Bay, San Francisco, East Bay, Sonoma, and Napa regions. What You'll Do
  • Take full responsibility for project execution from contract award through final closeout, ensuring strong performance in scope, budget, schedule, safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Lead the transition from estimating to operations by validating project assumptions, budgets, contract requirements, risks, and execution plans with company leadership and field teams.
  • Manage subcontractor and supplier procurement activities, including scope alignment, contract administration, insurance compliance, purchase orders, and buyout negotiations.
  • Build, maintain, and actively manage project schedules, coordinating closely with field leadership to track milestones, address delays, and implement recovery strategies when necessary.
  • Monitor project costs, productivity, cash flow, and profitability while preparing forecasts, cost-to-complete projections, and work-in-progress reporting.
  • Drive the RFI, submittal, document control, and change management processes, ensuring issues are resolved quickly and opportunities for additional revenue are captured and properly documented.
  • Administer prime contract requirements, monthly billing, retention releases, lien waivers, and other contractual obligations throughout the life of the project.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, general contractors, architects, engineers, public agencies, and other key project stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with Superintendents to coordinate field operations, self-perform crews, equipment needs, production goals, project safety, and overall execution strategy.
  • Oversee permitting and agency coordination activities while maintaining compliance with local jurisdictions and project-specific requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and environmental stewardship through active involvement in project planning and field operations.
  • Support preconstruction efforts by assisting with budgeting, constructability reviews, value engineering discussions, and design-build or alternative delivery opportunities.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Project Engineers, Field Engineers, and project support staff to help develop future leaders within the organization.
  • Represent the company with professionalism and integrity in all interactions with clients, partners, subcontractors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Contribute to the continued growth of the organization by helping refine project management processes, reporting tools, and operational best practices.
To Be Successful in This Role, You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or a strong track record of equivalent, relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 8+ years of construction industry experience with at least 3+ years managing heavy civil, excavation, grading, utilities, shoring, structural concrete, or related projects.
  • Proven success leading projects from award through final closeout, including projects valued up to approximately $10 million.
  • Strong knowledge of project controls, forecasting, work-in-progress reporting, cost management, and contract administration.
  • Familiarity with California public works requirements, prevailing wage regulations, and commercial construction contracting practices.
  • Ability to interpret civil, structural, utility, and geotechnical documents, specifications, and permit requirements.
  • Experience using Procore, HeavyJob, HCSS, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Excel, or similar construction technology platforms.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
  • Valid California driver's license and ability to travel regularly throughout the Bay Area project region.
  • Preferred: Experience with public agency projects, design-build delivery methods, OSHA 30 certification, First Aid/CPR certification, and bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
