About the Project:

The Eglinton Crosstown West Extension will bring the Eglinton Crosstown LRT another 9.2 kilometers farther west, creating a continuous rapid transit line from the east end of Toronto into Mississauga. The Stations, Rail, and Systems (SRS) package encompasses the design, construction, integration, and commissioning of key project components.

Position Overview:

The Architectural Construction Manager is responsible for leading the delivery, coordination, and oversight of architectural construction works on major rail transit infrastructure projects delivered by Trillium Rail Partners (TRP). This role oversees architectural scopes across stations, ancillary facilities, entrances, public spaces, and passenger environments, ensuring construction is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project requirements, design intent, and operational standards.

Working within a complex design-build / P3 environment, the Architectural Construction Manager collaborates closely with design teams, construction teams, subcontractors, systems teams, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality architectural finishes and integrated passenger infrastructure within active urban construction environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Construction Leadership & Delivery

• Lead and manage architectural construction activities across stations and facilities, including interior and exterior finishes, ceilings, wall systems, flooring, glazing, roofing, waterproofing, wayfinding, and public realm elements.
• Oversee day-to-day field operations to ensure architectural works are executed safely and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and construction methodologies.
• Coordinate architectural activities with adjacent civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, systems, and vertical transportation scopes.
• Monitor productivity, construction sequencing, and milestone achievement across multiple work fronts.

Design & Technical Coordination

• Collaborate closely with architectural and multidisciplinary design teams to address constructability issues and maintain alignment with design intent.
• Review and support approval of architectural shop drawings, RFIs, mock-ups, samples, and technical submittals.
• Coordinate implementation of design revisions and ensure impacts to schedule, cost, and interfaces are effectively managed.
• Support integration of accessibility requirements, passenger experience standards, and transit operational requirements into construction delivery.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

• Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with TRP safety policies, regulatory requirements, and site-specific safety plans.
• Ensure architectural works comply with applicable building codes, accessibility standards, fire/life safety requirements, and project specifications.
• Oversee QA/QC inspections, mock-up reviews, deficiency management, and close-out activities for architectural finishes and systems.

Stakeholder & Interface Management

• Act as the primary construction interface for architectural scopes, coordinating with consultants, subcontractors, inspectors, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), and transit stakeholders.
• Coordinate impacts to public access, pedestrian routing, and adjacent operations within urban and public-facing construction environments.
• Support coordination with municipalities, operations teams, and commissioning teams to ensure operational readiness.

Project Controls & Reporting

• Provide regular reporting on progress, quality performance, risks, and key construction milestones related to architectural scope.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with material procurement, sequencing, constructability, and interface coordination.
• Support claims avoidance and resolution through accurate documentation and issue management.

Commissioning & Handover

• Support station readiness, integrated testing, commissioning, and turnover activities related to architectural works.
• Ensure completion of as-built documentation, deficiency close-out, and operational handover requirements.
• Coordinate final inspections and acceptance of architectural finishes and passenger-facing infrastructure.

Qualifications:

• Degree or diploma in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience managing architectural construction scopes on large infrastructure, transit, commercial, institutional, or complex public projects.
• Proven experience in design-build and/or P3 project environments.
• Strong understanding of architectural detailing, finishing systems, accessibility requirements, and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Experience working in urban, brownfield, or live-operating construction environments is highly desirable.
• Experience managing unionized construction workforces is an asset.
•

  Strong understanding of architectural sequencing, quality control, and interface management.

  Ability to manage multiple subcontractors, schedules, and priorities simultaneously.
• Proficiency with construction management and coordination tools (e.g., MS Office, Bluebeam; BIM experience is an asset).
