Director of Facility Planning, Engineering and Construction About This Organization

University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point

Job Duties

The Director of Facility Planning, Engineering and Design is responsible for all design and construction projects at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. The position leads a team of campus planners, project managers, and designers. The department is ultimately responsible for coordinating the implementation of capital projects and the overall management of physical space in coordination with the expressed needs of academic programs and other relevant areas. This position works closely with units across campus to deliver projects which meet the needs of campus stakeholders. The Director will ensure that all planning, design, and construction projects are completed on time and on budget to support the campus mission and initiative.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revised unit operational and design policies, procedures, and guidelines based on project plan and development.
  • Develops, directs, and implements architectural and engineering project strategies and execution plans.
  • Serves as the unit liaison to internal stakeholder groups, providing organizational information to align project objectives with overall strategic plans and initiatives.
  • Develops and audits the unit budget and reporting documentation. Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees.

The Director of Facility Planning, Engineering and Construction is a full-time, salaried, exempt, annual (12-month) position.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field, from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience related to project oversight, surveying, or construction management.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, and working collaboratively with, a wide range of teams.
  • Experience working with various constituents related to projects and communicating with a variety of audiences.
Salary

Salary is commensurate with the candidate’s education, related experience, and qualifications.
