Job Summary Description:

Under the direction of the RVP and Area Director, the Senior Project Manager will plan, direct, coordinate & budget, usually through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities concerned with assigned contract or project. Participate in the conceptual development of a pipe rehabilitation project and oversee its organization scheduling, implementation and completion.


Essential Job Accountabilities:

  • Schedule the project in logical steps, and budget time required to meet deadlines.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, engineers, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress- and cost-tracking reports.
  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients representing the owner or developer.
  • Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of services provided, facilities, and systems.
  • Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies on project sites.
  • Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with municipal and safety codes and other regulations.
  • Study job specifications to determine appropriate service methods.
  • Select, contract, and oversee workers who complete specific pieces of the project, such as cleaning or manhole repair.
  • Confers with counterparts to assure successful & safe execution of project.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction science, construction management, or civil engineering and/or military experience preferred, and or at least 4 years’ experience in construction management.


Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Ability to understand contracts, plans, specifications, and regulations.
  • Ability to be flexible and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to be decisive and work well under pressure, particularly when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays.
  • Ability to coordinate several major activities at once while analyzing and resolving specific problems.
  • Must understand engineering, architectural, and other construction drawings.
  • Must be familiar with computers and software programs for job costing, online collaboration, scheduling, and estimating.
  • Good oral and written communication and leadership skills.
  • Must be able to establish a good working relationship with many different people, including owners, other managers, designers, supervisors, and craft workers.
