Project Manager Architect information

What is a project manager architect?

Project Manager Architects are professionals who combine architectural expertise with project management skills to oversee the design, planning, and execution of building projects. They coordinate teams of architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure projects meet client requirements, stay on schedule, and remain within budget. Their role involves managing communication between stakeholders, solving design and construction challenges, and ensuring compliance with regulations and quality standards. Project Manager Architects play a key role in delivering successful construction projects from conception to completion.

How does a project manager architect typically balance design vision with project constraints such as budget and timeline?

A Project Manager Architect is often responsible for aligning the creative goals of a project with practical considerations like budget, schedule, and client requirements. This involves frequent collaboration with design teams, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure that the architectural vision is maintained without exceeding resource limits. Effective communication, proactive problem-solving, and strong negotiation skills are essential for addressing conflicts between design ambitions and project constraints. By regularly reviewing project progress and making informed adjustments, Project Manager Architects help deliver successful outcomes that meet both aesthetic standards and practical demands.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a project manager architect, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Project Manager Architect, you need a combination of architectural design expertise, project management skills, and a relevant degree (such as architecture or construction management), often supported by licensure and PMP certification. Proficiency with CAD/BIM software, project scheduling tools, and industry-standard documentation platforms is typically required. Exceptional leadership, problem-solving abilities, and strong communication skills set top performers apart in this role. These skills ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to client specifications while meeting regulatory and quality standards.

Job description

AI-First Project Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time

Location: Edmonton, Alberta

Position Summary

At Elantis, we help organizations modernize how they work through tailored Microsoft solutions and we're rethinking how project management gets done. We're looking for a project manager who treats AI as a default, not an experiment: someone who wants to build a faster, smarter, more transparent delivery experience for our clients and keep improving it. We care far more about how you think and what you've built than how many years you've spent running projects the traditional way.

Position Responsibilities

  • Own the delivery of client projects end to end scope, schedule, budget, risks, and communication.
  • Use AI to run the mechanics of project management: prioritizing backlogs, building and re-forecasting schedules, monitoring project health, and generating status reporting.
  • Keep clients informed with clear, proactive updates, and surface issues before they become problems.
  • Build reusable AI workflows, prompts, and automations that improve how the whole delivery team works not just your own projects.
  • Continuously evaluate new AI tools and capabilities, test them against real delivery problems, and bring forward what works.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, consultants, account managers, and client stakeholders.
  • Document and share what you learn so the practice gets better with every project.
  • Help shape what AI-first project management looks like at Elantis.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Demonstrated hands-on use of AI tools in real work Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, automation platforms, or similar. You should be able to show us what you've built and how it changed the way you work.
  • Strong organizational skills, follow-through, and comfort owning timelines, commitments, and details.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the confidence to work directly with clients.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and genuine drive to find a better way  we don't want to be stuck doing things the way they have always been done.
  • Formal project management experience and certifications (PMP, CSM, PMI-ACP) are welcome but not required. We are open to candidates from non-traditional backgrounds who bring strong AI fluency, judgement, and initiative.
  • Exposure to Microsoft 365, Teams, Planner, Project, Power Platform, or Copilot is considered an asset.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to build things that don't exist yet in a small, fast-moving consulting environment.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and bonus structure
  • Paid vacation and holiday program designed to support work-life balance
  • Flexible hybrid work arrangements
  • Paid mobility/cell phone support
  • Competitive health benefits, fully paid by Elantis
  • Mentorship and strong opportunities for career growth and advancement

Elantis is an equal opportunity employer. Applicants who require reasonable accommodation during the application or interview process are encouraged to notify us.
