American Vanguard (NYSE: AVD) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant - Financial Reporting and SEC Reporting focused on Special Projects to join the accounting team on-site at their new Irvine location. This position will perform various accounting functions in support of the Corporate accounting functions for the company. The overall expectation for this position will be to develop and maintain best-in-class processes and procedures; provide leadership and accurate reporting.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Assist with external audit quarterly review and annual audit supporting documentation
  • Prepare draft 10-Q / 10-K financial statements and footnotes
  • Review accounting procedures, process narratives and related internal and external controls to improve process control and streamline workflow
  • Review corporate journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Track financial management business capabilities and assist with project management
  • Perform account analyses
  • Provide ad hoc reports as requested
  • Assist with special projects related to process improvement, systems integration, enhancing accounting monthly and quarterly close processes
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Minimum 3+ years Public Accounting experience in a global company
  • SEC reporting experience
  • Experience supervising staff level direct reports
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining priority deadlines
  • Ensure deliverables are presented with a high degree of accuracy to provide decision makers with relevant and key information
Desired:
  • 5+ years of Public Accounting experience
  • CPA or CPA eligibility
  • Experience completing detailed process walk throughs and testing internal controls
  • SEC reporting focus within International audit clients
  • Ability to review financial statement disclosures and MD&A against U.S. GAAP and SEC regulationsOracle Financial Consolidation and Close (FCCS) or other Cloud / ORACLE based experience
  • Experience with technical accounting areas including ASC 842
  • Advanced skills in EXCEL; ERP/MRP (QAD) software
  • Manufacturing and multi-company experience desired
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA preferred
