Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) Coordinator - Boca Raton, FL.
This position plays a critical role in coordinating committee activities, supporting protocol and amendment processing, and ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with institutional procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, communication, and record-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidential information, and support the efficient operation of committee and research administration processes.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Protocol Review:
  • Assist with coordinating the protocol review process by performing submission intake, pre-reviewing submissions to verify completeness and regulatory compliance, and monitoring submissions.
  • Administrative review of personnel required training.
  • Facilitate the Designated Member Review process under the direction of the Assistant Director.
  • Assist with facilitating post-IACUC protocol and amendment review communications to PIs.
  • Assist with administrative reviews of exempt and tissue use applications and any additional forms.

Semi-annual Inspections and PAM Program:
  • Participate in semi-annual evaluation of research animal housing facilities, laboratories, surgical suites, and programs of animal care and use for compliance with pertinent laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Assist with post-approval monitoring (PAM) activities, including coordinating and participating in PAM site visits.
  • Facilitate satellite animal facility monthly reporting to PIs.

Animal Care and Use Program:
  • Provide support to the Assistant Director in the development and revision of policies and SOPs related to animal care and use.
  • Develop and maintain IACUC office checklists.

Central Research Integrity Unit Operations:
  • Provides technical support and assistance within RI unit.
  • Facilitates logistics and working relationships within and between DoR units.
  • Assists the Associate Vice President for Research Integrity with special projects related to the Research Integrity role and responsibilities. Monitors central unit email accounts, distributing to responsible areas for follow up or response to inquiries.

Electronic Data Platform Management:
  • Assists the Associate Vice President for Research Integrity with special projects related to the Research Integrity role and responsibilities. Monitors central unit email accounts, distributing to responsible areas for follow up or response to inquiries.

Financial and Administrative Support:
  • Assists with all office administrative responsibilities.
  • Processes and facilitates administrative operations of the day-to-day functions within the RI unit, including coordination of general office responsibilities, serving as Workday's (FAU's internal operations electronic platform) point of contact for transactions such as:
    • Travel and conference arrangements
    • p-Card approvals
    • Purchase requests and reconciliation
    • Work orders
    • Office orders
    • Catering orders and coordination
    • Maintaining inventory of meetings and office supplies
    • Arranging telecommunications
    • Expense reimbursements
    • Answering or directing inquiries from RI's generic e-mail and phone line for the unit

Training:
  • Coordinates and/ or supports the RI unit on IACUC-related training initiatives and other research compliance areas as needed.

Other Responsibilities:
  • Provides support to all compliance committees and RI unit personnel as needed.
  • Drafts, distributes, and secures official appointment letters for committee members to assist with the management of committee membership.
  • Coordinates letter routing and signatures with the Office of the VPR.
  • Tracks committee member CITI training completion reports and appointment term renewals. Maintains records of these documents as well as CDA's, Member Rosters, and Member Contact Information.
  • Maintains the membership records library to assist with the management of committee membership.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
